Lucerne Private Walking Tour

There is no better place to start a walking tour in Lucerne, then the medieval Old Town, with its ancient rampart walls and towers, 15th-century buildings with painted facades and the two covered bridges.

Here, you can admire Lucerne’s best-known landmark - the Chapel Bridge, Kapellbrücke, dating from 1333, presumed to be the oldest wood bridge of Europe. It is famous for its distinctive octagonal Water Tower that flanks the famous structure and the spectacular 1993 fire that nearly destroyed it. Also here you can admire the historic houses decorated with frescoes that line the picturesque town Old squares.

It's time to move on to the next point of interest - the Jesuit Church, dating from 17th century, the first Baroque church in Switzerland, where our guide will explain you about its cultural and architectural significance.

Next, head to the Culture and Congress Center to admire its dynamic and original design., and pass by the remains of the Musegg Wall, a medieval city rampart that used to protect Lucerne. Here, there are several towers which you can ascend, including the clock tower - the clockwork mechanism is huge and exposed on the inside.

Prepare to photograph the famous Lion Monument, a rock relief with the figure of a grieving lion, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen, that honours the Swiss Guards massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution. These are just a few examples of the several attractions waiting for you in this exciting and interesting city tour in charming Lucerne.
