Tirana City Tour and Communist History Museums
Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location and begin your tour from the centre of Tirana.
Walk through Skanderbeg Square, where you will visit the National History Museum and the Opera House, then continue to learn the fascinating stories of the national hero, Skanderbeg.
Visit Et'hem Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower.
Discover the underground bunker Bunk'Art 2, now turned into a museum telling the fascinating stories of communist times. You will see traces of communism again at the entrance of the Block, where there is symbolically a war bunker, part of the holders of the infamous Spaç mine, and part of the Berlin Wall, gifts from the German government.
See dictator Enver Hoxha's house, although it is not open to the public and cannot be visited inside.
Continue your visit to another fascinating museum: the House of Leaves, a building where the communist regime used the state intelligence service to spy on its citizens.
Take a few minutes to leave downtown and head to another area of Tirana.
In the Dajti area is another museum: Bunk'Art Museum, an anti-nuclear bunker site that dictator Enver Hoxha built on the outskirts of Tirana. The idea was to shelter the elite Communist leadership in case there was a nuclear attack in Albania. Today, it is a museum bunker where there is much to see and hear.
