Kraków to Zalipie Painted Village Tour
- Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location and begin the tour from Kraków to Zalipie village.
- Arrive in Zalipie, where there are now around 20 painted houses. The best-known example of this original folk artwork is the homestead of Felicia Curyłowa, a Zalipie painter whose work was already known in the period between the wars.
- This tradition has existed in the Powiśle Dąbrowskie region since the end of the 19th century. Flowers were also painted on the external walls of peasant cottages and farm buildings, as well as on fences, wells, and even kennels.
- Visit Zalipie in spring, as during this season, since 1948, the village has hosted an important contest: the Painted Cottage competition, or "Malowana Chata". It began after World War II, when local authorities attempted to cover up the damage done by the war.
- Escape the busy life of large cities and towns, relax, and simply enjoy life and art.
- During your tour, you will get to see a number of decorated houses, a museum, and a small shop with unique handmade souvenirs.
