Scenic Drive to Upper Ulleari: The 2-4 hour drive takes you through scenic landscapes, with terraced farmlands, traditional villages, and lush forests. You'll arrive at Upper Ulleari, a picturesque Gurung village located at 2,090 meters, where you can enjoy the mountain surroundings and prepare for the trek.
Start of the Poon Hill Trek: Begin trekking along the well-marked path from Upper Ulleari, passing through charming villages such as Banthanti and Nangithanti. The trail winds through rhododendron forests and offers occasional glimpses of the surrounding peaks.
Lunch Break: Stop for a lunch break at Banthanti (2,250 meters) or Nangithanti (2,460 meters), where you’ll enjoy a hearty meal of local dishes to fuel up for the climb ahead.
Hike to Lower Ghorepani: Continue trekking uphill towards Lower Ghorepani, where the elevation starts to rise, and you’ll be greeted by cooler air and more prominent views of the Himalayas.
Arrival at Ghorepani Camp: Reach Ghorepani (2,860 meters) in the late afternoon, a bustling village set against the stunning backdrop of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After a long day of trekking, settle into your mountain cottage, enjoy a warm dinner, and relax for the evening. Day 2: Witness Poon Hill Sunrise and Return to Pokhara
Early Morning Hike to Poon Hill: Wake up before dawn for the highlight of the trek. Begin your 45-minute uphill hike to Poon Hill (3,210 meters), one of the most renowned viewpoints in the Annapurna region. Despite the early hour, the trek will be invigorating, with fresh mountain air and the excitement of witnessing one of nature’s greatest spectacles.
Sunrise at Poon Hill: Reach the summit just in time to catch the breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas. Watch as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu ranges, and take in the panoramic views of up to 32 Himalayan peaks, including the majestic Bhara Shikhar (7,651 meters). This serene and awe-inspiring moment will be etched in your memory forever.
Return to Ghorepani Camp: After enjoying the views and taking photos, hike back down to Ghorepani camp for a well-deserved hot breakfast. Relax, recharge, and take in the crisp mountain air before starting the descent.
Trek Back to Upper Ulleari: Retrace your steps along the same scenic trail, passing through Banthanti and Nangithanti once more. The downhill trek allows you to appreciate the landscapes in a new light, offering plenty of photo opportunities along the way.
