Suez Canal Cruise and Ismailia Seafood Lunch

• Leave Cairo and visit the Suez Canal, the most important canal in the world and the only connection between the four continents. Cross the canal by ferry boat, then drive parallel to the canal.

• Stop for a while at the Unknown Soldier Monument to take photos of the ships that come from all over the world to pass through the canal. Continue driving across the bridge over the canal to see it from above and take awesome photos.

• Relish mouth-watering seafood in Ismailia city as you stop there for lunch before heading back to Cairo.

Know before you go

• A brainchild of Napoleon Bonaparte, the modern Suez Canal is a man-made waterway that snakes its way across Egypt. However, the Egyptian Pharaoh Senusret III might have built an early canal that connected the Red Sea and the Nile River around 1850 B.C. The construction work of the canal is believed to have been finished in the 3rd century B.C. during the rule of the Ptolemaic Dynasty. It is also said that many historical figures, including Cleopatra, travelled on it.
