Have breakfast at the hotel and meet your Chavín de Huántar tour guide.
Depart at 8 am from the private bus station for Tours First Class Huaraz, heading to the millennia-old archaeological capital of Chavín de Huántar. You will travel in air-conditioned tourist transport.
Begin driving south of Huaraz, passing through the typical village of Recuay (3300 masl).
Cross the Santa River to the left side of the typical villages of Huacapampa, continue past eucalyptus trees and sheepherders' villages, join the paved highway, and drive along the highlands full of pastures and straw by a small valley.
Visit Querococha Lake (3980 masl) and stop for photos of the beautiful landscape.
Continue to the highest pass at Tunel de Cahuish (4500 masl), an important point for the hydrographical division.
Proceed through the narrow valley in a zig-zag route, reaching the Río Mosna along the river flanks and arriving at the archaeological site of Chavín. The ruins are located next to the modern district of Chavín.
Arrive at 1 pm and head straight to a restaurant for a refreshing lunch until 2 pm.
Enter the castle of Chavín for a guided tour lasting about two hours. Visit the many labyrinthine rooms, and in one of the main buildings see the Lanzon de Chavín, a large carved stone remain from the Pre-Inka period.
Finalize the tour at the modern museum, which preserves the rest of the Chavín culture.
Depart at 4 pm for a non-stop drive back to Huaraz of about 3 hours, arriving around 7 pm directly at the bus station in Huaraz.
