The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Dushanbe and Rudaki Avenue

  • Meet your Tajikistan tour guide/operator at Dushanbe International Airport.

  • Enjoy delicious national cuisine and, if time permits, take a tour along Dushanbe's Central Avenue, Rudaki Avenue, which connects all the city's main attractions.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02

National Library and National Palace

  • Proceed to the National Library, a state cultural institution, a national repository of the heritage of science and culture, and an archive of the national periodical press. The library houses 6 million books.

  • Follow this with a visit to the National Palace, where the President of the country takes important decisions and where receptions for important guests of the Republic, including heads of state and international organizations, take place.

Day 03

Kokhi Nowruz and Iram Park

  • Visit Kokhi Nowruz, a new construction featuring 12 unusual halls, each designed in its own unique national style and reflecting the history and culture of the Tajik people. It can receive 3,200 guests at once.

  • Saunter through Iram Park. The Botanical Garden is located in the northern part of the left bank of Dushanbe, in the Ismail Somoni district, facing the western side of the banks of the Dushanbe River. The garden covers 40 hectares, and its central entrance is organized from the east.

Day 04

Hisor Fortress and Dushanbe Heritage Sites

  • Head to the Hisor Fortress and Museum, which is 3,000 years old and located 26 km west of Dushanbe. The fortress is an open-air museum, and a number of legends from Firdousi's "Shahnameh" are connected with it.

  • Visit the Teahouse 'Kharbuza'. This teahouse has no analogue in the world and was erected in the form of a melon (Taj: kharbuza). Measuring 43 meters high, 100 meters long, and 55 meters wide, it is designed to receive 2,300 visitors at a time.

  • Explore the Mausoleum of Mawlono Yakubi Chrakhi. Yakub ibn Usman al-Charkhi (1359-1447) was a religious leader, spiritual leader of the Sufi Tariqah Hajagan-Naqshbandi, and the eighteenth in the golden chain of succession of the sheikhs of the Tariqah.

  • Marvel at the artifacts at the Museum of Antiquities, many of which are often exhibited abroad. Be fascinated by masterpieces of world history and culture and learn about the history of the Tajiks.

  • Browse the TC 'National Crafts', a shopping center located in the center of Dushanbe that displays and sells the needlework of national artisans. Each product reflects the culture and history of the Tajik people in its own way.

Day 05

Bokhtar Landmarks and Ajina-Tepe

  • Climb to the top of Kurgan Hill, a symbol of the city and a watchtower from the late 19th century. The hill on which it is built is considered artificial and dates back to the 9th-10th centuries.

  • Visit the Bibikhonum Museum, a city museum created in 1999. The attractive round museum building, with a tower in the middle, is itself a subject of admiration and special pride for the townspeople. Its collection includes more than 1,500 exhibits reflecting the history of the formation and development of the city of Bokhtar.

  • See Ajina-Tepe, a hill 12 km east of the city of Bokhtar (Kurgan-Tyube), with the remains of a Buddhist monastery dating from the 6th-8th centuries.

Day 06

Khujand Fortress, Arbob Palace, and Panjshanbe-bozor

  • Take in the views of the Khujand Fortress, founded in the 6th-5th centuries BC. The city and citadel components of ancient Khujand had separate fortress walls and were surrounded by a broad and deep moat filled with water.

  • Continue to Arbob Palace, located 10 km from the city of Khujand. It was built in 1950 on Arbob Hill and modelled on the Peterhof Palace near St. Petersburg in a reduced and altered form. The palace was created on the initiative of twice Hero of Socialist Labor Saidkhoja Urunkhodjaev. In 1992, the historic 16th session of the Supreme Council was held in this palace.

  • Explore the Panjshanbe-bozor/Bazar - Sheikh Muslihiddin complex, a monument of folk architecture from the 16th century. It is located on the west side of Panjshanbe Square, and the mosque was built in 1512-1513.

  • Return to the hotel and have dinner en route.

Day 07

Nowruz Celebration Square and Return to Dushanbe

  • Have breakfast at the hotel.

  • Visit the Nowruz celebration square (Central Stadium of Khujand), where the Nawruz celebrations in Khujand take place each year.

  • Return to your Dushanbe hotel and have dinner en route.

Day 08

Dushanbe Free Time and Departure

  • Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel. Then visit the Ashan Shopping Center for those who have free time.

  • Drop-off at Dushanbe International Airport.

  • The origin of this holiday has its roots in the pre-written era of human history, and it acquired official status in the Hachomanish Empire (6th-4th centuries BC).

  • On September 30, 2009, Nowruz was included by UNESCO in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Since that time, March 21 has been declared the International Day of Nowruz.
