Discover Valparaíso's Hills, Street Art, and Historic Promenades

  • Meet your tour guide upon arrival and begin your guided tour.
  • Start at Sotomayor Square, where you will see important monuments and historic buildings with your Valparaíso tour guide. Then, take a historic funicular built in 1902 to reach the Yugoslavian Promenade, which offers a spectacular view of the bay and port of Valparaíso.
  • Continue walking through Alegre and Concepción Hills. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you will walk on old cobblestones and climb many steps. See old British architecture and houses built in 1887, and learn about the immigrants who arrived at the port in the mid-19th century. A good coffee awaits you.
  • Visit the picturesque Gálvez passageway and admire beautiful street art and murals created by Chilean and foreign artists. If you are lucky, you may even speak with one of these artists and learn more about the mural-making process.
  • At Atkinson Promenade, you will get a sense of what it was like to live on a hill and see the city's three cemeteries in the middle of the urban landscape.
  • If you like churches, you will find remarkable old ones here, such as the Anglican church built in 1858 and the Lutheran church from 1897.
  • Climb the famous Piano stairs and see the lovely mural that says, "We are not hippies. We are happy."
