The itinerary

1
Day 01

Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga

  • Start your tour after breakfast with a private car drive to Nayapul, the trekking trailhead.

  • Drive for 1.5 hours and enjoy the scenic landscapes.

  • From Nayapul, follow upstream along the Modi Khola for about 30 minutes, then cross the confluence of the Modi and Burungdi rivers.

  • Continue upstream along the Burungdi River and climb gradually to Tikhedhunga at the base of the steep 3,000 steps to Ulleri. This 4-hour walk is a good warm-up for the first day, or you can even climb the 3,000 steps to Ulleri to make the next day easier.

Day 02

Trek to Ghorepani Through Ulleri and Alpine Forest

  • Climb the steep stone steps in the morning. The climb will take about 2 hours.

  • From the village, get your first view of Annapurna South and Mt. Fishtail. From Ulleri village, the trail climbs gradually into the shade of alpine forest.

  • Walk through the forest and reach the base of Ghorepani, a mountain pass below Poon Hill overlooking the world's deepest valley, Kaligandaki, wedged between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.

Day 03

Sunrise at Poon Hill and Trek to Tadapani

  • Start your day with a sunrise view from Poon Hill, the highlight of this trek. The hilltop, at 3,190 m, is a 50-minute climb from Ghorepani.

  • As the early rays of the sun hit the snow peaks, the colours change from pink to red. Enjoy the panoramic view of more than 15 peaks in the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu ranges. From Poon Hill, you can see some of the world's highest peaks, including Dhaulagiri (8,167 m / 7th highest), Annapurna I (8,091 m / 10th highest), and Manaslu (8,157 m / 8th highest).

  • Climb down to Ghorepani and prepare for another beautiful day's walk to Tadapani. The trail first climbs to the ridge top toward the east and then follows a ridge dense with rhododendron to Deurali.

  • Walk for another three hours through the rhododendron forest and reach Tadapani at 2,500 m.

  • From Tadapani, enjoy a closer view of Annapurna South and Fishtail.

Day 04

Walk to Ghandruk and Return to Pokhara

  • Walk down to Ghandruk with your Nepali trekking guide. Ghandruk is a charming mountain village in the forefront of Annapurna South and Mt. Fishtail.

  • See the thatch- and slate-roofed stone houses that dominate the village, surrounded by farming terraces. This is the homeland of the Gurung tribe, famous as
