Mount Papandayan is located in the west of the Indonesian island of Java, near the city of Bandung.
The landscape around the active stratovolcano is somewhat reminiscent of another planet. The Papandayan volcano reaches a height of 2665 meters. Since the volcano is not too high, this tour is also suitable for inexperienced trekkers.

The biggest outbreak occurred in 1772, when at least 3,000 people were killed.
The Papandayan volcano is located in the village of Sirnajaya in Garut province. Surrounding cities include Cisurupan (approx. 9 km away), Garut (approx. 27 km away), and Bandung (approx. 70 km away).
The best way to travel from Bandung to Garut Bus Station is by bus. From Garut, you can take another bus called ELF Cikajang and get off in Cisurupan.
