The monument of Stephen the Great and Holy

The Monument of Stephen the Great and Holy is one of Moldova’s most iconic landmarks and a proud symbol of the nation’s identity. Standing at the entrance of Ștefan cel Mare Park in the centre of Chișinău, this impressive bronze statue honors Moldova’s greatest medieval ruler—Stephen III of Moldavia (1457–1504).

Statues of lovers on the Pedestrian Street

A double monument, arguably the most romantic in Chisinau, was unveiled on Pedestrian Street Eugen Doga on October 14, 2017. The author of the monument is sculptor Pavel Obreja. Along Pedestrian Street, there is an exhibition featuring the sale of handicrafts crafted by folk artisans from the country.

At the end of the 19th century, the current mayor of the city, Karol Schmidt, initiated the construction of a new headquarters for the Duma of the city (town hall) on the place occupied by the fire station. The design was entrusted to the then city architect Mitrofan Elladi.

Triumphal Arch

For urban planning purposes, it is typically situated in one of the city squares, marking the axis...
