5-Day Wildlife Tour in Sandakan with Deramakot Night Safaris

• Get picked up by car or coach and transfer to the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, situated in the centre of the mangrove forest across about 400 acres of coastal land near Samawang Village.

• Visit one of the platforms to view the Proboscis monkeys at close range. You may also be lucky enough to see Silver Leaf Langurs, Pig-Tailed Macaques, Oriental Pied Hornbills, and Kingfishers.

• After the tour, your Sandakan guide will transfer you to a hotel.

• Be picked up by 4WD for a long drive of about 4 to 5 hours on a mix of paved and gravel roads, passing through oil palm plantations until you eventually reach the gate of Deramakot Forest Reserve.

• Return to the resort for breakfast. You are then free to relax and lounge around.

• After an hour, get ready for your next adventure - a jungle trek of about 2 hours along the trail in search of wildlife to add more sightings to your notebook.

• Return to the resort and get ready for lunch. Enjoy some free time afterward.

• After an hour, go on an afternoon drive to Balat, situated about 33 km from the lodge on the banks of the mighty Kinabatangan River. Along the journey, you may see wildlife such as wild orangutans.

• Have a simple dinner on the drive back to the lodge. Along the way, you may spot nocturnal animals.

• Return to the lodge and enjoy free time at leisure.

• Wake up early in the morning, enjoy your coffee or tea, and get ready for a morning walk in search of wildlife and birds.

• Return to the lodge for breakfast and enjoy some free time at leisure.

• One hour after lunch, set out for a trek along Domingo's Trail, a pathway that shares a message about forest management.

• Return to the lodge and get ready for dinner. Enjoy some free time at leisure.

• After an hour, head out again in search of nocturnal animals.

• Return to the lodge and enjoy some free time at leisure.

• Wake up early in the morning for another morning drive in search of wildlife.

• Return to the lodge, check out, and head back to Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan.
