The itinerary

Day 01

Arba Minch to Jinka via Konso and Key Afer

  • Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location in Arba Minch and drive towards Jinka.

  • Visit the Konso Villages and enter the Lower Omo Valley at Weito. The Omo Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its outstanding heritage value. It is also home to eight unique indigenous tribes that continue to maintain their ancient ways of life.

  • Make your way through Key Afer to meet the Tsemay and Banna tribes.

  • Stay overnight in Jinka.

Day 02

Mursi Tribe Visit in Mago National Park

  • Have an early start and drive to Mago National Park.

  • Visit the Mursi tribe villagers, famous for their clay lip-plate traditions, and spend the day observing their way of life.

  • Head to Hamer and stay overnight at Turmi Lodge or a similar lodge.

Day 03

Turmi Hamer Tribe Cultural Encounters

  • Meet and interact with the Turmi Hamer tribe.

  • Observe their cultural events. If the timing is right, you may be able to witness traditional ceremonies such as bull jumping and wedding ceremonies.

  • Visit local Turmi Hamer schools and witness the traditional pastoral way of life.

  • Rest overnight in Turmi.

Day 04

Dassenech Tribe and Remote Village Camping

  • Make your way to the home of the Dassenech tribe, which can only be reached by crossing a river. You may ride in a traditional tree-carved boat without a motor.

  • Visit a very remote village of the Hammer tribe in the afternoon.

  • Spend the night camping in this remote tribal village.

Day 05

Nyangatom and Karo Tribes by the Omo River

  • Start the day early and cross the Omo River to visit the villagers of the Nyangatom tribe. Spend the morning with them.

  • Visit the Karo tribe, who live near the Omo River, in the afternoon.

  • Stay overnight in Turmi.

Day 06

Benna Village, Market, and Traditional Dance

  • Drive from Turmi to the Benna tribal village.

  • Spend your day with the Benna people.

  • Visit the Benna market and enjoy a fabulous night of traditional dance and food.

  • Camp under the stars in the Benna village.

Day 07

Arbore Village on the Weito River

  • Visit the agricultural Arbore tribal village on the shores of the Weito River.

  • Spend your day with the Arbore people.

  • Camp under the stars in the Arbore village.

Day 08

Return to Arba Minch and Departure

  • Head back to Arba Minch in the morning after a wonderful week of cultural exploration and new experiences.

  • Make your way to Arba Minch Airport.
