The itinerary

1
Day 01

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park Safari

  • After breakfast at 07:30 am, leave your Nairobi hotel with your Nakuru tour guide for the journey westwards to the Great Rift Valley, with a brief stop at the escarpment for a photo session and a breathtaking view of the valley.

  • Drive down to the floor of the scenic Rift Valley towards Lake Nakuru Park. Your arrival in Nakuru will be followed by lunch at Nakuru Lodge.

  • Proceed for the afternoon game drive in the park. You will have a chance to see the Big Five except elephants, as well as Rothschild's giraffe and predators like lions and leopards. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe. It has earned the nickname 'The Birds' Sanctuary' or 'The Pink Lake' as birds of all kinds visit it regularly. The park is home to stunning flocks of lesser and greater flamingos, which turn the lakeshores into a magnificent pink stretch.

  • Make the most of the afternoon with a fun game drive.

  • Keep an eye out for exotic birds like the White Pelicans, Greater Flamingos, Plovers, Egrets, and Marabou Stork, to name a few, out of the 400 different species of birds that flock here.

  • At 06:30 pm, you will exit the park and head back to your hotel or lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02

Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara Game Reserve

  • Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve after breakfast.

  • At 08:00 am, depart from Lake Nakuru town and drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

  • Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive at 03:30 pm. Return to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Luxury accommodation: Ol Moran Tented Camp; AA Lodge Mara; Enchoro Wildlife Camp; Ordapoi Tented Camp; Mara Springs Tented Camp; Mara Sopa Lodge; Sentrim Mara Camp.

  • Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 03

Big Cats and Mara River Experience in Masai Mara

  • Search for the 'Big Cats' of Masai Mara and take in the spectacular view of the famous migration route.

  • Lunch will be served at the Mara River by the Hippo Pool.

  • The afternoon game drive proceeds shortly after 02:30 pm. Among the other animals you may see are giraffes, jackals, gnus, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, Topi antelope, and hippos. Beware of the crocodiles in the Mara River.

  • Enjoy colourful birdlife such as vultures, ostriches, long-crested eagles, pygmy falcons, secretary birds, marabous, and red-winged Schalow's turaco, among many others.

  • Dinner will be served around a campfire, where you can listen to and learn from the Morans about their culture, traditional beliefs, myths, and fairytales.

  • Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 04

Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha via Masai Village

  • Refresh yourself with an early morning tea or coffee to enjoy the 06:30 am game drive.

  • Return to your lodge at 08:30 am for breakfast and check out.

  • Leave Masai Mara for Naivasha with a brief stop at a Masai village to visit the community renowned for its tradition of beadwork and handicrafts. You can participate in their activities and cultural dances as they bid you farewell.

  • Proceed for a 3-4 hour journey to Naivasha, with lunch served en route at Narok town.

  • Upon arrival, drive to Lake Naivasha shore farmlands, known for their blossoming flower farms.

  • You have the option of embarking on a boat ride, coupled with fishing expeditions where local fishermen join you as you head to Crescent Island in the lake.

  • Accommodation options: Fish Eagle Inn; Fishermans Camp - Crater Lake; Lake Naivasha Sawela Lodge; Lake Naivasha Country Club; Kiboko Luxury Camp - Crater Lake, Naivasha; Hippo Safari Resort; Lake Naivasha Resort; Clay Fish Naivasha or similar.

Day 05

Lake Naivasha and Hell's Gate to Amboseli National Park

  • Drive across the narrow, swampy causeway from Sanctuary Farm to access the island. Alternatively, you can spend this entire time until midday at Hell's Gate National Park.

  • Enjoy more challenging cave walks, hikes, and a photography tour led by your local Amboseli tour guide for the rest of the morning. The looming cliffs and the Hell's Gate gorge offer a spectacular sight.

  • Have fun participating in activities in and around Lake Naivasha, then take an hour's drive to Nairobi, where your lunch will be served.

  • Proceed southwards to Amboseli National Park, known for its large herds of elephants and magnificent snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

  • Make the most of game drives until night falls upon arriving in Amboseli. Dinner and overnight stay in Amboseli. Amboseli Park has become one of the most visited parks in Kenya for its serenity and the view of the peak of Kilimanjaro during sunrise and sunset.

Day 06

Full-Day Amboseli Safari with Mount Kilimanjaro Views

  • Wake up by 06:30 am for a game drive and picnic day, with scenic Mt. Kilimanjaro as your backdrop. Here, you can spot the big cats and herds of African elephants.

  • Return to your camp in the afternoon.

  • Dinner and overnight stay in your luxury tented camp or lodge.

Day 07

Amboseli National Park to Nairobi

  • 06:30 am - 09:30 am - Have a pre-breakfast game drive with your favourite beverages and snacks served at departure, then return to the camp for a regular breakfast.

  • Spend the rest of the morning in Amboseli National Park with an optional tour of Masai villages to get a glimpse of their traditional way of living and dance forms before reaching Nairobi. Upon reaching Nairobi, you have the option of being dropped off at the airport or your hotel.
