The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Armenia and Transfer to Yerevan

  • Meet your Armenian tour guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

  • Have a rest and freshen up for dinner.

  • Stay overnight in Yerevan.

Day 02

Yerevan City Tour with Cascade and Genocide Memorial

  • Have breakfast at the hotel.

  • Start discovering Yerevan, the city of Sun, from Victory Park.

  • Enjoy the view of Biblical Mt Ararat and make your way down the Cascade Complex, which houses the Cafesjian open-air museum exhibiting amazing works of modern art.

  • Feel the lively atmosphere of the city as you walk along the Opera House and Northern Avenue to Republic Square, right in the heart of the pink city.

  • Next, go to the Genocide Memorial located on the top of Tsitsernakaberd Hill.

Day 03

Geghard Monastery, Garni Temple and Lavash Baking

  • Get up and pull back the curtains on a beautiful architectural piece by Armenian masters.

  • Head to Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO Heritage Site boasting a rich history and awe-inspiring surroundings.

  • Savour the refined spiritual energy of this site and drive into the idyllic countryside towards the incredible village of Garni.

  • Visit Garni Temple, the only pagan temple existing in the region from the 1st century. It is a unique construction not only in Armenia but globally.

  • Join local cuisine masters to bake Armenian bread, Lavash.

  • Return to Yerevan, where dinner will be served at the hotel.

  • Stay overnight in Yerevan.

Day 04

Tsaghkadzor, Kecharis Monastery and Lake Sevan

  • After breakfast, head to Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort and go up Mt Teghenis by ropeway to get an unrestricted view of the landscape.

  • Visit the Kecharis Monastery complex.

  • Go on a tour to Lake Sevan, the largest of the lakes in the Caucasus, located at an altitude of 1900 meters.

  • On the Sevan peninsula, explore Sevanavank Monastery, built in the 9th century. The monastery offers an amazing view of Lake Sevan.

  • Return to Yerevan for an overnight stay.

Day 05

Khor Virap, Areni Wine Region and Noravank

  • After breakfast at the hotel, start your trip to the south of Armenia to Khor Virap Monastery, located at the foot of Biblical Mount Ararat. If the weather is fine, admire the fantastic view from the top of the hill.

  • Sometime later, enjoy a trip through a narrow canyon to the valley of red rocks, where the 13th-century Noravank Monastery stands.

  • En route, visit the wine factory to taste local wine made from the unique grapes of Areni.

  • Return to Yerevan and eat dinner at the hotel.

  • Stay overnight in Yerevan.

Day 06

Hovhannavank, Saghmosavank, Amberd and Mount Aragats

  • After breakfast, embark on a trip to Hovhannavank, also called Hovanavank, a monastic complex located near Hovanavan village in the Aragatsotn region. Hovhannavank is dedicated to Hovhannes Mkrtich (John the Baptist).

  • Inspect the most ancient construction of the complex, a basilica built in the 4th century by Gregory the Enlightener.

  • On its northern side, the basilica stands near the church of the first Christians, dating from the 4th century. With its architectural style and solutions, this complex is among the most prominent constructions of the 13th century.

  • Drive to Saghmosavank, built in the 13th century by Duke Vache Vachutyan. Several parchments were written and painted in the library of the main church in the monastery.

  • Afterwards, head to the Armenian Alphabet Monument, located in Artashavan village in the Aragatsotn region on the western slope of Mount Aragats. The complex was built in 2005 on the 1600th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian alphabet. It includes sculptures of 39 letters of the Armenian alphabet and monuments to great Armenian thinkers.

  • After lunch, head deeper into the region to reach Amberd Fortress (VII-X1V c.), built to the north of Byurakan village at an inaccessible site. Amberd was a mighty fortress in medieval Armenia. The position of Amberd and the cyclopean fortresses around it confirms that the fortress existed as early as III-II BC.

  • Attempt to go up Mount Aragats if the weather and snow are favourable.

  • Then return to Yerevan through the villages.

  • Savour dinner at the hotel.

  • Stay overnight in Yerevan.

Day 07

Echmiadzin, Saint Hripsime, Saint Gayane and Zvartnots

  • Have breakfast at the hotel.

  • Head to the sacred city of Armenia.

  • Visit the See of Holy Echmiadzin, the religious centre for all Armenians worldwide. The main sight in this town is the Cathedral, the oldest Christian church in Armenia and one of the first in the whole Christian world.

  • Examine Saint Hripsime and Saint Gayane churches.

  • Head to one of the brightest landmarks of medieval Armenian architecture, the magnificent Zvartnots Temple, dating from the 7th century.

  • Return to Yerevan for an overnight stay.

Day 08

Vernissage, Gum Market and Airport Transfer

  • Check out after having breakfast at the hotel.

  • Proceed to Vernissage, the market of traditional Armenian arts and crafts.

  • Wander through the market as you shop and enjoy the unique ambience of Vernissage.

  • Next is the Gum food market, where you can enjoy the colourful display of Armenian fruits, dried fruits, and other tasty things in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

  • Transfer to the airport.
