Explore Prague's Lesser-Known Jewish Heritage Sites

  • We first walk through Libeň and Smíchov, the old cadastral areas of Prague, learning about the region's history.
  • Next, we reach the Jerusalem Synagogue, an important site not only for Jewish people, but also as the largest synagogue in all of Prague.
  • Then we head to the Olšany and Plague Cemeteries, including the harrowing mass grave where Prague's plague victims were buried hurriedly in 1680.
  • Lastly, we see the Jewish Quarter, better known as Josefov. This is the area where Jewish people took shelter during the mass killings of the Holocaust in Prague.

We then head back to the metro station. This is the end of the tour.

What's Included

  • Services of an expert Prague guide

What's Not Included

  • Public transport pass (currently valid for 24 hours on trams, buses, and the metro in any direction: 120 CZK, less than 5 Euro) and entry fees, if applicable.

Know before you go

  • These sites are difficult to reach by car or bus because of traffic, so transport facilities are not offered by the tour operators. However, it is neither difficult nor time-consuming to get there by public transport. Libeň and Smíchov are on the same metro line, about ten minutes apart, and each is only a minute's walk from the metro station.
  • The Jerusalem Synagogue is close to the metro, which takes you to Olšany Cemetery in five minutes, and the walk to the cemetery is also only a couple of minutes.
  • The Plague Cemetery requires a long walk, but altogether less than in the Jewish Quarter.
