Nightwatchman Walk Through Old Lucerne

  • Meet your guide on arrival and begin the tour with the fire horn, followed by the Nightwatchman call. Nightwatchman Ralf introduces himself and tells you about his life in the Middle Ages.
  • See the Martiniplan, a 400-year-old city map, and hear about Martin Martini, the genius copper engraver, counterfeiter, and loudmouth. The Nightwatchman shows you tonight's walking route on the Martini map. He also tells you about the main city buildings and the fortifications of Old Lucerne. You will discover that many of the buildings have been well preserved over the centuries and still attract visitors to Lucerne today.
  • Visit the most photographed attraction in Switzerland, the Water Tower, built a few decades before the wooden Chapel Bridge. Learn about the inside of the Water Tower and its torture chamber.
  • Hear details about life in the blooming Republic of Lucerne just a few steps around the corner.
