Cave Church and Coptic Cairo Discovery
Drive to the so-called "Garbage City" with your Cairo tour guide to visit Saint Simon's Monastery, known as the Cave Church of Zabbaleen. A large population of garbage collectors live around the monastery, and many churches were carved into Mokattam.
Visit Saint Simon and the Tanner Hall.
Examine St. Mark's Church, which was discovered in 1974. It was filled with stones up to the 17-meter-high ceiling and was later prepared to contain two floors:
The lower floor is St. Mark's Church, named after St. Mark, the first preacher in Egyptian heritage.
The upper floor is St. Simon the Tanner Hall, with a seating capacity of 2,000 people for spiritual meetings. The walls are decorated with many wonderful pictures engraved on the rocks, representing scenes from the Bible.
Proceed to the Cathedral of Virgin Mary and St. Simon the Tanner. The church was constructed in the form of a quarter circle to accommodate a few thousand people, and it is the biggest church in the monastery.
Then move on to Coptic Cairo to visit the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, Babylon Fortress Cairo, and the Church of Abu Serga. Return to your hotel.
