The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival and Transfer to Hammamet

  • Meet the tour representative at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Hammamet.

Day 02

Tunis, Carthage, Sidi Bou Said, and Bardo

  • Depart from Hammamet to visit the museum, home to the biggest collection of Roman mosaics in the world. Please note that this museum is currently closed for political reasons and will be replaced by the Museum of Local Traditions in Sidi Bou Said.
  • Visit the Medina of Tunis, starting along the main Habib Bourguiba Avenue, where the 2011 revolution began. Enjoy a meal at La Goulette Fish Restaurant.
  • Proceed to Carthage, the most visited archaeological site in Tunisia. Begin with the Tophet, an open-air sanctuary used in Carthaginian times for child sacrifice by burning.
  • Stop at the two Punic ports and visit the Antonine Baths in Carthage, located 20 metres from the palace of the Tunisian President.
  • Explore the Arabo-Andalusian village of Sidi Bou Said, famous for its blue-and-white architecture.

Dinner and overnight in Hammamet.

Day 03

Dougga Archaeological Site and Onward to Kairouan

  • Drive from Hammamet toward Béja at 8:00.
  • Continue to Dougga, the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in Africa, with your Tunisian professional guide.
  • Explore the Forum, the Capitol, the Second Forum, the slave market, the brothel, the public baths, and the theatre.
  • Have lunch at Hotel Thugga, then continue to Kairouan, stopping after 100 km in Siliana.

Have dinner and stay overnight at Hotel Kasbah.

Day 04

Kairouan Heritage Tour and Drive to Tozeur

  • Visit the last two pools in Kairouan.
  • Continue to the Mausoleum of Sidi Saheb, one of the companions of the Prophet Mohamed. He came to Tunisia with others to bring the new religion to North Africa, and this mausoleum was built after his death.
  • See the Great Mosque of Kairouan, the first religious monument built for Muslims in Africa, with its highly symbolic minaret.
  • Next, cross the old city built by Muslims in Kairouan and admire the architecture of the traditional houses as you follow the narrow streets.
  • Enjoy lunch at Hotel La Kasbah in Kairouan or Jugurtha Palace in Gafsa with your private tour guide.
  • Arrive in Tozeur around sunset and have dinner at Hotel Golden Yasmin Ras El Ain.

Day 05

Tozeur, Chebika, Salt Lake, and Desert Camp

  • Depart from the hotel in a 4x4 vehicle to visit the place where "Star Wars" was filmed, the Mos Espa city.
  • Visit the Mountain Oasis of Chebika, a green natural site in the middle of the Atlas Mountains. Follow the natural spring flowing between two rocks, then continue to a small lake and finally to the waterfall.
  • After that, continue exploring the Mountain Oasis of Chebika and its waterfall, created by the river coming from Algeria.
  • Continue to Douz, crossing the biggest salt lake in Africa.
  • Take a camel ride across the sand dunes for an hour, then continue to Camp Wadi Errmall.

Dinner and overnight at Wadi Rmall Camp.

Day 06

Matmata, Gabes, and Sfax

  • Depart from the camp to visit the Berber houses and troglodyte dwellings of the Matmata Caves. You will be welcomed by a local family and offered honey, olive oil, locally made Berber bread, and mint tea.
  • Visit Hotel Sidi Driss, known for being used as a filming location for the movie "Star Wars".
  • Proceed to Gabes to visit the spice market, which is now completely burned after an electrical incident.

Continue to Sfax for dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Ibis or Golden Yasmin Les Oliviers.

Day 07

El Djem, Monastir, Sousse, and Return to Hammamet

  • Depart from Sfax and visit the third-largest Roman colosseum in the world. Inside, you will learn about its construction, the gladiator fights, the first and second floors, and the underground level where the lions used to live.
  • Visit the Tomb of Habib Bourguiba, the first president of Tunisia. Its design is similar to the mosque of Jerusalem, and the mausoleum is covered with Italian marble inside. It also houses a collection of the personal belongings of the man considered the builder of Tunisia.
  • Have lunch at a restaurant and visit the leisure port of El Kantaoui.

Dinner and overnight in Hammamet.

Departure Transfer

  • Transfer to the airport.
