Itinerary
-
Day 1: Prison Island in Zanzibar
Arrive at Zanzibar via airport or harbour from where your tour guide will escort you to the hotel in Stone town for check in.
After settling in, move on to have lunch.
Hop onto a boat to visit the prison Island. The boat ride to the island is 40 minutes. Upon reaching, one can explore the history of this isolated piece of land which once served as a prison for slaves.
Meet and pet giant tortoises on the island and have an amazing time curdling and watering them.
Immerse yourself in sun bathing, swimming and roaming along the beach line. Marine life enthusiasts can indulge in snorkelling at the nearby coral reefs on the island.
Return to Stone Town in the evening where dinner at Forodhani is highly recommended.
-
Day 2: Jozani Forest
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby to take you to Jozani Forest.
Indulge in rich flora and fauna of the Jozani forest and click countless photographs of rare creatures like Sykes monkeys, tree hyrax, butterflies in the forests that are easily spotted along the pathways. As your guides are also naturalists in the nature reserve, expect a lot of information about the national reserve.
Visit the Mangrove swamp and walk around the Mangrove forest in Jozani.
After lunch, you will have some free time as you head back to Stone Town, so you can take in few surrounding sights around town.
-
Day 3: Boat tour/snorkeling in Nungwi
After breakfast, transfer to Matemwe Beach where you will take a 15-minute boat ride. As you approach it, you will see an island surrounded by more than 10 miles of stunning reefs that create a sheltered lagoon. The boats normally make a mini-diversion in search for dolphins. If you're lucky, you will see them and even swim with them.
Upon arriving, check into the Nungwi beach resort.
Proceed to snorkel where with just a few feet under water, you will start to see different rear marine creatures swimming around you.
Relax by the beach then have fruits and water.
In the evening, head back to Nungwi resort for dinner and overnight stay.
-
Day 4: Dolphin Tour at Kazimkazi
Head for a dolphin tour early in the morning to Kazimkazi. Early hours are the best for dolphin tours because in the afternoon as the sun rises, seawater tends to become warm and dolphins dive deep down the sea bottom to escape the heat. For the guests who stay in Stone town hotel, pick up from their hotels at 06:00 am and 05:00 am from beach hotels. Although dolphin-spotting is a popular activity, sightings aren’t guaranteed 100%. Managing to swim with dolphins is a rare occurrence, like with other wild animals, spotting dolphins require time and patience as they are not confined in a cage or a zoo; they are in their natural environment. Dolphin trips last two to three hours.
Roam around the hotel, click pictures and relax around the beach view for the rest of the day.
-
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy the last day in Zanzibar by purchasing memorable mementos and souvenirs.
