4-Day Aberdares and Samburu Safari with Tree Lodge Wildlife Viewing

• Depart Nairobi after breakfast with your Kenyan guide/driver. Today's destination is Aberdares National Park.

• Travel overland through coffee and tea plantations to The Aberdares Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill.

• After lunch, continue to The Ark tree lodge, located in the forest on the mountain slopes of the Aberdares at 7,000 feet. This outstanding lodge offers high-altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere, such as the giant forest hog, bushpig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo antelope. Wildlife can be observed from different levels - outside, where you can see, hear, and smell everything, and inside, where you can sit with a cup of tea and stay warm and cosy. You may also request to be awakened during the night if your favourite animals appear. A herd of elephants might be just feet away and, if you are lucky, a leopard or large male lion may also make an appearance.

• This morning, travel by road to Kenya's northern frontier. Depart and drive north through the Northern Frontier District and on to Samburu Game Reserve.

• Enjoy an afternoon game drive in this reserve, which is famous for its exclusive game viewing.

Dinner and overnight at either Ashnil Samburu Camp, Samburu Game Lodge, Samburu Simba Lodge, Samburu Sopa Lodge, or Sentrim Samburu Lodge.

• Spend the whole day exploring Samburu Game Reserve with an early morning game drive, when the light is perfect for photography and wildlife is concentrated on the ground. Continue with mid-morning and afternoon game drives, where you will have the opportunity to spot all three big cats - lions, leopards, and cheetahs. You also have the option of heading out with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire day inside Samburu Game Reserve.

• You may choose to take an optional visit to a Samburu village at an extra cost and learn about the uniqueness of the Samburu tribe and their culture. A wide variety of animals and birdlife can be seen in Samburu Game Reserve.

• Embark on an early morning game drive at sunrise, when predators are active, and later return to the lodge for breakfast.

• After breakfast, depart Samburu National Reserve, enjoying the last picturesque views of the reserve as you travel back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.

• Drop-off will be at either your hotel or the airport to connect with your homebound flight, depending on the arrangements, where the safari ends.
