Day 01
Luxor East and West Bank Highlights
- Start your Luxor city tour with a transfer to the West Bank, where you will visit the Valley of the Kings, a magnificent example of the grandeur of funerary architecture. Many kings were buried in this valley, including some of the best-known tombs of King Tutmosis I, Tutmosis III, Tut-Ankh-Amon, King Ramssess VI, King Mrenptah, and Amonhotep II.
- Continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built by Queen Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmosis I, who ruled Egypt for about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (approximately 1490-1469 B.C.). She was the only pharaonic woman to reign in ancient Egypt.
- Pass by the Colossi of Memnon, the remains of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III, accompanied by your Egyptologist guide.
- Then drive to the East Bank of Luxor and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before visiting Karnak Temples, the greatest example of worship in history, dedicated to the god Amon, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu.
- End your tour with a visit to Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III during the 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom and completed by Ramesses II during the 19th Dynasty.
- Later, you will be driven back to your hotel in Luxor.
