Travel the country route of cheese and wine through Ojos Negros Valley, about an hour east of Ensenada. Visit Vinicola Infinito to tour the vineyard and learn more about the world of wine with owner and winemaker Pepe Pedrosa, whose winery is recognized for the excellent quality of its Shiraz grape despite sandy soil and extreme climates. Continue to Rancho La Campana for a guided visit through the facilities, where you will learn about the Ramonetti family, making cheese and dairy since 1911, and the cheese-making process. The experience also includes artisan cheese paired with quality wines and other artisan products in the underground cellar of La Cava de Marcelo, with time for lunch at the gourmet restaurant on the farm at your own expense.

During the tour, you will take a 15-minute walk to the granaries, where you will learn about crop production, livestock care, and the cheese-making process.

Day 01

Cheese and Wine Experience in Ojos Negros Valley

  • We will pick you up from your hotel at 11:30 am and take you to Ojos Negros Valley, about an hour's drive from Ensenada, for the first stop at La Cava de Marcelo at Rancho La Campana, an internationally recognized organic farm.
  • Once you arrive, you can have a drink at your own expense while enjoying the patio or taking pictures of this special countryside setting until the first guided tour begins, around 10-15 minutes later.
  • During the tour, you will take a 15-minute walk to the granaries, where you will learn about crop production, livestock care, and the cheese-making process.
  • Approximately 45 minutes later, you will return to the main farm building, and we will take you to the underground cellar, which is not wheelchair accessible, where you can sink your teeth into quality cheeses during a tasting paired with house wine and other artisan products. Products vary according to the season.
  • After the tour, you may order lunch at the gourmet restaurant at your own expense. The menu features contemporary Mexican cuisine made with local ingredients from Ojos Negros and Valle de Guadalupe.
  • All dairy products are fresh from Rancho La Campana cows.
  • You will be taken back to your hotel around 6:00 pm. Bottled water and snacks will be available during the tour.

  • Mandatory use of face masks during the tour for participants, guides, and drivers.

  • Safe distancing of 6 ft will be implemented in wineries, vineyards, and restaurants.

  • Avoid close-contact greetings with guides, drivers, and hosts in wineries, vineyards, and restaurants.

  • Routes have been restructured for the safety of participants.

  • Guides are trained by health experts.

  • Hotel and B&B pick-up and drop-off are included.

  • Vehicles are sanitized before, during, and after the tour.

  • Plastic panels separate the front and rear of the vehicle.

  • Participants will be provided with a cooler containing properly sanitized bottled water and snacks.

  • Participants are responsible for transferring purchased wine bottles and products to the vehicle.

Health Policy

  • Before starting the tour, the guide or driver will inform participants about the hygiene protocols.

  • Before entering the vehicle, the guide or driver will measure each participant's body temperature with an infrared thermometer. A measurement greater than 37.5 C or 99.5 F will be considered a fever, and you will not be able to take the tour.

  • If any participant has the following symptoms - fever, fatigue, dry cough, or shortness of breath - you will be informed that you will not be able to participate in the tour.

  • It is the participant's responsibility to inform the guide if he or she was in contact with a person with COVID-19 in the last 5 days, and he or she will not be able to take the tour.

  • Before, during, and at the end of the route, you will be provided with antibacterial gel with a minimum alcohol concentration of 70%.

  • Before, during, and at the end of the tour, the appropriate use of face masks will be reviewed.

  • The vehicle will be sanitized with germicide spray at every stop during the tour after participants leave the vehicle.

  • If at any stop the facility seems very crowded, the guide or driver must make a visual evaluation of the risk of contagion before participants enter and decide on actions to minimize the risk.

  • Participants will be asked to avoid direct contact with surfaces exposed to contamination.

  • At the end of the tour, the vehicle will be cleaned, sanitized, and disinfected.
