Day 01

Punta Banda Peninsula and La Bufadora

  • After mid-morning pickup, travel with your guide approximately 24 miles (39 km) south of Ensenada to the Punta Banda peninsula. Along the way, learn general information about Ensenada, the different places in the city, and activities in the region. Enjoy the landscapes of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean as you go around the entire bay.
  • Arrive at the town of La Bufadora and walk with your guide about 3 blocks through the market to reach the main attraction, La Bufadora. Learn from your guide how air trapped in a sea cave causes the water to explode upward, often shooting more than 100 feet (31 meters) above sea level and creating a thunderous noise.
  • Depending on the strength of the waves, this phenomenon repeats every 1-2 minutes, so you can be sure to see La Bufadora in action. Then your guide will take you to a popular sidewalk market for crafts and souvenirs made in Baja California, giving you free time to find fun home decor items and gifts, and/or relax with food and drinks at one of the nearby restaurants (own expense) offering stunning ocean views.
  • You will meet your guide again at 1:00 pm to return to your hotel at 2:00 pm. Bottled water and snacks will be provided during the tour.

Day 02

Bar Andaluz at the Riviera Cultural Center

The Andalusian Bar is located within the Ensenada Riviera Social, Civic and Cultural Center. Adorned with a beautiful mural personifying God Bacchus, an Andalusian guitarist, and a dancer, it brings life to a bar with original ornaments that reflect the activities of the Prohibition era in the United States and the main reason this beautiful hotel and casino building, named Hotel Playa, was inaugurated on October 31, 1930.

It was here at the Andalusian Bar that the popular and world-famous drink, the Margarita, was invented on August 21, 1948 by Mr. David Negrete, in honor of the owner of the Hotel Riviera, Mrs. Marjorie or "Margarita" King Plant. It currently operates as a bar and remains one of the oldest in Ensenada. It has its own parking lot, and every Wednesday there is a promotion featuring the traditional Margarita.
