14-Day Botswana Wildlife Safari with Okavango Mokoro and Chobe Cruise

• Meet your Botswana safari guide at Sir Seretse International Airport.
• Transfer to your accommodation, where you will stay for the night.
• Receive a briefing on your safari trip before the journey officially begins the next day.

• Pick up from your hotel and depart for Khama Rhino Sanctuary.
• Stop at Palapye on the way and pass through Serowe, one of the largest traditional villages in Botswana, where the first president of Botswana, the late Sir Seretse Khama, was born.
• Visit Paje and Mabeleapodi on your way to Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a 4300-hectare reserve on the Kalahari Sandveld with several natural waterholes.
• Arrive at Khama Rhino Sanctuary and have lunch at your designated camping site. Your tour guide will show you your camping tents upon arrival.
• Go for a siesta.
• Enjoy the Rhino Tracking game drive in an open 4x4 game-viewing vehicle and spot various animals. The sanctuary is also home to other wildlife that has settled naturally or has been translocated. It is prime habitat for white rhinos, zebras, blue wildebeest, giraffe, eland, springbok, impala, gemsbok, kudu, steenbok, duiker, red hartebeest, waterbuck, warthog, leopard, ostrich, African wild cat, caracal, small spotted genet, black-backed jackal, bat-eared fox, and brown hyena.
• Take a game drive safari around the open grasslands of Malema and Serowe pans.
• Return to the camp after sunset and rest.

• After breakfast, depart for the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, which covers an area of 52,000 square kilometres. The vast open plains, salt pans, and ancient riverbeds are home to large herds of springbok, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, and the largest of all antelopes, the eland. Camp here for two nights.
• Track the black-maned lion of the Kalahari, surviving in the harshest conditions, as well as African wild dogs, cheetahs, and brown hyenas following their prey in this untamed wilderness.

• Head out in search of honey badgers and jackals while keeping a lookout for lions, cheetahs, and wild dogs.
• Return to camp for lunch and a siesta.
• Take a trip to the famous Deception Valley, where the book, "Cry of the Kalahari", was written. The valleys are a unique ecosystem within the Kalahari, and one can expect to find large concentrations of springbok and gemsbok on the verdant beds of sweet desert grasses. Game viewing is best between December and April, when the animals tend to congregate in the pans and valleys, attracted by the flush of sweet grasses that flourish in the ancient valley after the rains.
• Spend time exploring the Deception Pan and the Piper Pan area, searching for other intriguing desert species.
• Return to camp for dinner.

• Wake up for breakfast before heading to Maun, the gateway to one of the best wildlife experiences you will ever have - a safari in the unforgettable Okavango Delta. A hub of the Delta's safari industry, it is the southernmost part of the Delta and boasts a river tributary of the Delta called the Thamalakane River.
• Stay in a lodge for one night.
• Take a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta from Maun Airport at your own expense. Keep a lookout for hippos and crocodiles in the waterways, and observe how the water channels meander through the Delta in ever-changing paths as this dynamic water system evolves.

• Prepare your small luggage for the overnight mokoro trip in the Delta.
• After breakfast, depart for the Okavango Delta and meet your local tour guide.
• Arrive at the camp and enjoy tea.
• Take a swim in the clear waters of the Delta.
• Travel by mokoro, undeniably the best way to experience the Okavango Delta, as you explore the waterways and take nature walks. You will also get an opportunity to track game and enjoy views of the spectacular birdlife, flora, and fauna that might otherwise go unnoticed.
• Camp in a remote campsite for one night.
• Have dinner under the Milky Way starlit skies, after which the guides will entertain you with cultural stories and traditional dances, animal tracking techniques, and gathering methods for traditional medicinal purposes. Guests interested in astronomy will be treated to one of the most expansive displays of stars on earth before retiring to cosy tents for the night and drifting off to the sounds of the wild.

• Depart for Moremi Game Reserve, widely considered one of Africa's finest wildlife reserves. It has a diversity of habitats, combining acacia forests and mopane woodlands with floodplains and lagoons.

• Visit Third Bridge, Bodumatau, and Dead Tree Island. Sightsee different antelopes, including red lechwe and the shy sitatunga, a web-footed antelope perfectly adapted to life in the swamps, as well as wild dogs.

• Camp here for two nights.

• Take off for a game drive after lunch.
• Return before sunset.

• Transfer to Savuti, which is part of Chobe National Park. It is called Savuti because a certain chief called Sauté used to live there with his tribe. Tawny eagles can be seen soaring in the sky as you drive. Find umbrella thorn, acacia tortilis with giraffe feeding, and much more, including the most photographed bird, the lilac-breasted roller, the national bird of Botswana.

• Depart for a game drive at 3:30 pm to the beautiful Savuti Marsh, where vast herds of zebras and wildebeest can be seen, along with an opportunity to spot pairs of kori bustards, the heaviest flying birds.

• Return to the camp.

• Depart for a game drive to the Savuti Marsh, where you may get an opportunity to track cheetahs because of the vast open grassland, their most preferred habitat.
• Spend some time under the baobab tree (Adansonia digitata), an African indigenous tree. It is nicknamed the upside-down tree because the branches look like roots when it is dry.
• Return to the camp.

• Wake up early for a beautiful trip to the famous Chobe National Park with your tour guide. Get a glimpse of mopane woodland and acacia tortilis. Chobe National Park is mainly dominated by Zimbabwe teak, which is very good for making furniture. On the way, you will see many animals until you reach the Chobe enclave, which incorporates five villages.

• Take a game drive along the Chobe River and spot herds of buffalo crossing to Sedudu Island, elephants, pods of hippos, and a pride of lions.

• Return to the camp.

• Depart for the last game drive in Chobe and spot two antelopes rarely encountered elsewhere in Botswana - the puku and the Chobe bushbuck. The puku, with their shaggy orange-brown coats and V-shaped horns, can be seen grazing the floodplains, while the Chobe bushbuck is nocturnal and rarely forms groups of more than one pair. Both the puku and the bushbuck have several predators, from lions, hyenas, and leopards to African wild dogs.
• At 3:00 p.m., proceed for a boat cruise along the Chobe River.
• Return to the campsite.

• Wake up to a light breakfast.
• Transfer to Kasane International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg.
