5-Day Ethiopia Heritage Tour with Lalibela and Lake Tana

Early in the morning, arrive at the domestic terminal of Addis Ababa Bole Airport to check in for your flight to Bahir Dar.

After arrival, transfer directly to your hotel.

After breakfast, go on a boat ride on Lake Tana.

Visit two of the most beautiful monasteries, Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam.

Drive back to Bahir Dar. On the way, see the outlet of the famous Blue Nile River as it departs from the lake.

Stop for a lunch break.

In the afternoon, drive to the Blue Nile Falls and enjoy the picturesque views.

After breakfast, drive 180 km to Gondar, also known as the Camelot of Africa.

Head towards the foothills of the breathtaking Simien Mountains National Park in the northwestern part of the country.

Visit the oldest and most impressive Gondarine structure, the magnificent castle compound, including the two-storied palace of Emperor Fasilides, built of rock-hewn brown basalt stone held together with mortar, as well as the fantastically decorated Debre Birhan Selassie Church.

See the bath of King Fasilides and the ruined palace of Queen Mentewab at Kusquam.

Early in the morning after breakfast, take a flight to Aksum and check in to your hotel.

Visit the archaeological museum and the famous stelae park to explore the magnificent single blocks of stone erected in the 3rd century.

Head to Saint Mary Zion Cathedral, where the original holy Ark of the Covenant is sheltered.

Continue to the subterranean tomb of King Kaleb and his son, King Gebre Meskel.

Visit the ruined palace and bath of the Queen of Sheba.

After breakfast, head to the airport and fly to Lalibela, also called the Jerusalem of Ethiopia.

Explore the first group of monolithic red-tuff churches, incredibly carved into the rock. Your guide will lead you through the network of crevices and tunnels linking each of the churches.

Take a walk through the beautiful Saint George Church.

In the late afternoon, drive back to your hotel.

Head to the airport to fly back to Addis Ababa.

After arrival, enjoy shopping in your free time.

In the evening, enjoy a farewell cultural dinner party at one of the traditional Ethiopian restaurants, with dances from different ethnic groups.

Transfer to the airport for your departure.
