Samkar Lake, Old Town, and Village Life by Boat
Pick up from your hotel at 8:00 am in Inle Lake or Nyaung Shwe by your Myanmar tour guide.
Go on a 2.5-hour boat trip to Samkar.
Cross Samkar Lake to see the old Samkar town.
Visit the beautiful monastery, walk through the villages to observe local life, and pay homage to the Samkar Buddha, which is made of frangipani wood. Some stupas are in the water when the water level rises after the rainy season.
Continue to another village, where you can learn the detailed process of producing local rice wine and taste the 40% alcohol.
Walk through more villages to see pigs, chickens, and local farms until reaching Thar Kone, home to 236 stupas.
Enjoy the view of Samkar Lake.
Meet a Shan family at Naung Bo Pottery village, where they make pots for local use.
Take the long trip back (2.5 hours). Along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery and observe the way of life of local people in the canal, including washing and swimming with their families.
Head back to the hotel.
