Take a boat ride up to Mingun. Mingun is known for its huge unfinished pagoda. Originally the pagoda was supposed to be the highest globally, but it was partially destroyed by an earthquake.
Mingun Bell, Hauptstrasse, Mingun Myanmar, 1 hour
Nearby, you can also visit the Mingun Bell, which received its own 'museum' after the earthquake. The beautiful Hsinbyume Pagoda is very different from any other typical pagoda in Myanmar.
Mahamuni Pagoda, Mandalay Myanmar, 30 minutes
Upon arrival back in Mandalay, visit the sacred Mahamuni Pagoda, a major pilgrimage site located in the city's southwest.
Shwenandaw Monastery, Shwenandaw Golden Palace, Mandalay Myanmar, 30 minutes
Afterwards, visit the Shwenandaw Monastery, which was built in 1878 by King Thibaw Min. It is mostly known for its artistic wood carvings.

If time permits, walk up to Mandalay Hill, known for its abundance of pagodas and monasteries. The panoramic view of Mandalay from the top of Mandalay Hill makes it worth attempting a climb up its stairways.
