Jordan Valley, Qasr el Yahud and Belvoir Fortress Tour

  • Drive east from Tel Aviv to the northernmost point of the Dead Sea.

  • Pass through Jericho, the Beth-Haarava Israeli settlement, and St. Gerassimos.

  • Continue through the Jordan Valley and stop at the baptismal site on the Jordan River, Qasr el Yahud, the Castle of the Jews. This is the traditional place where, according to the New Testament narrative, the baptism of Jesus took place. According to tradition, it is also where the Israelites crossed the Jordan River and where Elijah the Prophet ascended to heaven.

  • Move onward to the synagogue of Beth-Alpha, a National Park located near Kibbutz Heftziba. It contains an ancient Byzantine-era synagogue with a mosaic floor depicting the lunar Hebrew months as they correspond to the signs of the zodiac.

  • Stop to see Tel Bet Shean, also known as Scythopolis Nysa. As the Jewish sage said, "If the Garden of Eden is in the land of Israel, then its gate is Beth Shean."

  • Ascend to Belvoir Fortress, a 12th-century Crusader fortress in northern Israel, south of the Sea of Galilee.

  • Travel back to the hotel in Tel Aviv.
