The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Ashgabat and Museum Exploration

  • Meet the group of tourists at the international airport of Ashgabat and travel to the hotel for accommodation and rest.

  • After lunch, start the tour with your Turkmen guide by visiting the National Museum of History and Ethnography.

  • Visit the Carpet Museum, where you can explore the history of Central Asia's carpet industry. It houses the largest collection of Turkmen carpets of any museum. Each section features a rich collection of Turkmen carpets from the medieval period through the 20th century, including over 1,000 carpets from the 18th and 19th centuries. Aside from its extensive collection of antique carpets, it also displays many carpet articles, chuvals, khurjuns, torba, and more. One of its major attractions is the hand-woven carpet measuring 301 m/s, recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest carpet in the world.

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and an overnight stay at the hotel in Ashgabat.

Day 02

Nisa, Gypjak Mosque, and Darvaza Gas Crater

  • Breakfast is served at 9 am. After that, drive to explore the ruins of Nisa, dating back to the 3rd century BC - 3rd century AD.

  • Visit "Gypjak" Mosque and stop to pay respects at Turkmenistan's first President's mausoleum.

  • Have lunch at a local restaurant and explore one of the villages, Bahardok or Erbent, to observe the quiet, rural life of Turkmen people.

  • In the late afternoon, drive to Darvaza Gas Crater, a huge flaming crater located 270 km north of Ashgabat. The crater is popularly known as the "Door to Hell" or "Gates to Hell" and attracts many tourists from around the world to witness this blazing marvel.

  • In the evening, relish the spectacular and fascinating view of the smoldering gas crater.

Enjoy a picnic-style dinner and an overnight stay in a tent under the starry sky.

Day 03

Konye-Urgench Monuments and Border Transfer

  • After an early picnic-style breakfast, transfer to see another gem of the Turkmen people, Konye-Urgench.

  • Drive north through Turkmenistan for about 4 hours. On arrival, explore the architectural monuments of Konye-Urgench, the capital of Khorezm in the 10th-12th centuries, including the mausoleums of Najm al-Din al-Kubra, Tyurabek Khanum, Il-Arslan, and Tekesh Ibn Hadzhibey.

  • Bask in the glory of Qutlug Timur, the highest minaret in Central Asia.

  • Have lunch at a local restaurant in Konye-Urgench.

  • Drive to the Turkmen-Uzbek border at Dashoguz/Shawat and cross the border at 3-4 pm.

  • Reach Ashgabat International Airport towards the end of the tour.
