Armenian Heritage Sites on Mount Aragats
Meet your tour guide at a predecided location.
Visit the ancient Armenian Alphabet Monument at 3 pm. The 39 letters of the Armenian alphabet are considered an integral source of national pride and identity.
Reach the medieval Amberd Fortress on the southern slopes of Mount Aragats. The fortress is an important archaeological site that boasts numerous underground walkways.
See the Byurakan Observatory, built with beautiful pink felsitic tuff at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level. The observatory holds one of the world's largest telescopes, the Schmidt telescope, as the air at this altitude is dry and has many cloudless starry nights favourable for astronomical observations.
