This route offers a brilliant sunrise above the massif mountains of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, with spectacular scenery across the hills and valley. Trek through the popular Annapurna region on a newly founded route, with rewarding mountain views, village trails, and a day hike to sacred Khayer Lake.

The trekking trail gently ascends to Khopra Danda, where you gain breathtaking views of the huge Annapurna South just above your head, as well as Mt Fang (Barahshikhar) and Mt Nilgiri.

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Be warmly welcomed by one of the airport representatives at Tribhuwan International Airport of Nepal.

  • Transfer to your hotel by private car or van.

Day 02

Drive to Pokhara and Lakeside Walk

  • After breakfast, your Khopra trekking guide picks you up for Pokhara.

  • Drive along the highway through the landscapes of the Nepalese countryside, with views of rivers and mountains. The drive takes approximately 5 to 6 hours.

  • After reaching your hotel in Pokhara, get refreshed and walk around Fewa Lakeside.

Day 03

Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Ghandruk

  • After breakfast, drive to Nayapul by private vehicle for about an hour from Pokhara, enjoying scenic views of Pokhara Valley and the spectacular Annapurna Himalayas. Nayapul is one of the trekking starting points for the Annapurna region.

  • Trek to Ghandruk along the Modi Khola to Seuli Bazaar, and then continue as the trail gradually climbs through cultivated fields and villages. There is also an option of driving to Ghandruk.

Day 04

Trek to Tadapani Through Forest Trails

  • Start the trek after breakfast. On the trail, ascend to Tadapani with excellent mountain views and a walk through a big forest. Along the way, you may see monkeys and domestic animals like buffalo and cows.

  • After about an hour of climbing, a single lodge is available where you can rest and enjoy breathtaking scenic views.

  • At another place called Bhaisi Kharka, below Tadapani, a lodge is available where you can have lunch.

  • After about 2 hours of walking from Bhaisi Kharka, you reach Tadapani.

Day 05

Trek to Dobato on a Less-Travelled Trail

  • After breakfast, start trekking by leaving the main Ghorepani Poon Hill-Annapurna Sanctuary trail and following a mostly nontourist route that ascends toward the tree line. From here, you can see superb mountain views of the Annapurna region and scenic views of the Modi Khola Valley.

  • After lunch, the trail gradually climbs to a small pass where beautiful villages are situated. You can also enjoy great views of the Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

Day 06

Trek to Khopra Danda and Khopra Ridge

  • There is another route that treks down to Chistibung for one extra day instead of going to Khopra Danda today. If you stayed the previous night at Chistibung, then the trail would climb steeply up to Khopra Danda, also known as Khopra Ridge. Along the trail, you may see wild animals such as mountain goats and birds. The trekking trail gently ascends to Khopra Danda, where you gain breathtaking views of the huge Annapurna South just above your head, as well as Mt Fang (Barahshikhar) and Mt Nilgiri. Across the Kali Gandaki Valley lies the world's 7th highest mountain, Mount Dhaulagiri.

Day 07

Day Hike to Sacred Khayer Lake

  • Today is a day hiking trip to Khayer Lake. The lake is sacred, and Hindu pilgrims used to go there for Pooja on the occasion of Janai Purnima, the full moon of the month of July/August. This day hike takes about 8 hours approximately. The trip offers Nepal's natural beauty and keeps you engaged with the scenery.

  • Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 08

Descend to Swanta

  • Walk back the same way to Chistibung and continue descending to Swanta, passing villages and one of the beauties of Nepal.

Day 09

Trek to Ghorepani Through Forest and Villages

  • Continue trekking by descending to the river until you cross a suspension bridge, then ascend via Chitre. This is the main trekking trail to Tatopani (hot spring) and Jomsom, Upper Mustang to the south and east, and Ghorepani, Annapurna Base Camp.

  • Walk up through the rhododendron forest to Ghorepani Deurali.

Day 10

Poon Hill Sunrise, Trek to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara

  • Go on an early morning trek to Poon Hill, taking your headlight with you, for the stunning magnificence of the Annapurna panorama and Dhaulagiri views.

  • Return to the lodge for breakfast.

  • Trek down to Nayapul via Ulleari and Tikhedhunga.

  • Drive to Pokhara.

Drive Back to Kathmandu

  • Drive back to Kathmandu.

Departure from Kathmandu

  • AM/PM transfer to the airport for your onward destination. End of program.
