15-Day Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal with Kala Pathar and Namche

• Pick-up by the airport representative and transfer to the hotel. If you arrive early in the day, you can do some sightseeing near your hotel.

Overnight at the hotel with bed and breakfast (BB).

• Pick up from the hotel early in the morning and drive about 20 minutes to Tribhuvan International Airport.

• Take an exciting 45-minute flight to Lukla.

• Begin your trek to Phakding, with approximately three hours of easy walking with your Everest tour guide.

Overnight at the lodge.

• Begin the trek on a mostly flat trail following the Dudhkoshi after crossing the bridge at Phakding. The trail continues flat with some ups and downs for about 3 hours. Along the way, you will already have seen Thamserku, Kusum Kangaroo, and, from just before Monjo, Khumbi La above Namche.

• Reach Sagarmatha National Park and check your permits about 20 minutes before Jorsalle, at the end of Monjo. From the Hillary Bridge, enjoy a view of Taboche Peak across Tyangboche and, after about half an hour of climbing, catch your first view of the world's highest peak, Mt Everest, and more. After crossing the Hillary Bridge, you will continue climbing for about two and a half hours.

• Today, hike to Thame Valley or Khumjung Khunde Valley via Syangboche (3790m), home to the world's highest airport, and Hotel Everest View. There is also a museum above Namche in the military campsite and a Sherpa cultural museum, where you can watch a video presentation by paying the entrance fee. This area also offers views of Mount Everest.

• Return to Namche for the second night.

• Leave Namche Bazaar and, after a short climb, follow a gradually flat trail to Kyangjuma. On the way, you can enjoy wonderful mountain views, including the world's highest peak. Then the path leads down to the Dudhkoshi, and immediately after that, the trail ascends to Tyangboche.

• Visit Tengboche Monastery. You will also have the chance to observe the prayer ceremony, either in the evening or in the morning.

• The trail gradually descends through a forest of rhododendron and dwarf conifers to the Imjatse River, crossing the bridge and then ascending to Pangboche (3860m). You will be heading toward the beautiful mountain Ama Dablam. In upper Pangboche, there is the oldest monastery in the Khumbu Valley, dating back to the 17th century. Continue past Shomare (4020m) and Orsho, from where you can also see Mount Pumori (7165m). Afterwards, the upper left junction trail leads to Pheriche, while the lower right trail heads to Dingboche.

• Today, enjoy another acclimatization day around Dingboche with a day hike. You will have a trip to Chhukung Valley and can also go to Chhukung Ri (5546m). From here, you can see the world's fifth-highest mountain, Makalu (8463m). Some trekkers also climb Nagarjun Hill above Dingboche for acclimatization.

• Return to Dingboche in the evening.

Overnight at the lodge.

• Walk slowly and make sure you have enough drinking water, as you are already at a high altitude and heading toward the foot of the world's highest peak at Everest Base Camp. At Dhugla, also known as Thukla (4620m), there is a place where you may have some hot tea, coffee, or food. After about 40 minutes to an hour of steep ascent, you will reach the top of the ridge, where there are memorials to those who lost their lives during peak or mountain climbing. On the way to Lobuche, there is a superb view of Mount Pumori in front of you, and to the east is Mount Nuptse (7861m).

Overnight at the lodge.

• The path follows the Khumbu Glacier toward Gorakshep and Base Camp. It is suggested that you carry enough drinking water and some Snickers, as you will be getting much closer to Everest Base Camp today.

• Take lunch and rest for a couple of hours.

• Continue to the foot of the world's tallest mountain at Everest Base Camp, again carrying enough drinking water and snacks. You cannot see Mount Everest from Base Camp, so walk with proper equipment against the wind and cold.

• Return to Gorakshep for the night.

Overnight at the lodge.

• Early in the morning, hike uphill to Kala Pathar (5545m), which provides an excellent viewpoint to observe Mount Everest, the Khumbu Glacier, and innumerable spectacular mountain views.

• Trek back to Pheriche (4280m).

• Trek back to Namche Bazaar.

• Proceed to trek back to Lukla via the same trail.

• Fly back to Kathmandu.

• Enjoy a free day.

• This day is kept for the Kathmandu city tour after the trek because flights between Lukla and Kathmandu can be affected by bad weather. You can do sightseeing on the second day of the trip instead if you are unable to take the flight to Lukla.

• This day is for Kathmandu sightseeing, including Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath.

Overnight at the hotel on a BB plan.

• Pick-up at the hotel and transfer to your onward destination. The program is finished.
