Dilijan, Haghartsin, and Goshavank Discovery
- The excursion starts at 10:00 from the location you specified.
- Dilijan is one of Armenia's resort towns and one of its favourite tourist cities. It is located in the Tavush region, in the valley of the Aghstev River, and is surrounded by amazing forests and clean air. The road to the city passes through a tunnel, where you will see one landscape at the entrance and a completely different, fabulous landscape at the exit. Here, we will visit the famous Mimino monument, Swan Lake, and, of course, the world-famous UWC college.
- Haghartsin Monastery is located about 20 km from Dilijan, deep inside majestic forests and surrounded by the Ijevan ridge. Along this fabulous road, there are gazebos at every turn, where many tourists stop for a picnic and cook kebabs. The monastery complex was built in the 11th century and is a wonderful example of ancient Armenian architecture. At the monastery, you will also see the legendary walnut tree, which is almost 800 years old, and you will have a great opportunity to take beautiful photos as a memory of your visit.
- After Haghartsin Monastery, we will continue to the last attraction of our tour, Goshavank Monastery, which is located about 15 km from Haghartsin in the village of the same name. The monastery complex was built in 1188 by Mkhitar Gosh, the great ancient Armenian philosopher and historian, and was named after him. He created the first Armenian court code, the code of laws of the feudal system. In ancient times, Goshavank was famous for its seminary and university, where prominent Armenian historians, philosophers, and cultural figures studied. In this beautiful architectural complex, you will have a good opportunity to explore the ancient structure, walk in the fresh air, and take beautiful photos to remember your visit.
