Areni, Noravank and Wings of Tatev to Tatev Monastery

- The village of Areni, in the valley of the Arpa River, has been considered the winemaking centre of Armenia since ancient times. Located in the Vayots Dzor region, it is home to two beautiful wineries at the entrance to the town, where you will have the opportunity to take an excursion and taste some of the best varieties of Armenian wine. Every October, a wonderful wine festival also takes place here, bringing together wine producers from across the Republic to present their products.
- Noravank Monastery, translated as "New Monastery", was built in the 13th century and is one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Armenia. It is located on a slope near Areni and is surrounded by its famous red hills. In 1996, an attempt was made to add the monastery complex to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Some of the complex's buildings were also created by the famous ancient sculptor Momik. The surrounding area offers exciting walks and massive ridges with a fantastic landscape, where you can take amazing photos as a memory of your visit.
- The Wings of Tatev ropeway is the longest cable car in the world, a pendulum-type ropeway stretching 5,752 metres. It was built in 2010 at the initiative of Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend. Inside the cabin, there is an audio guide throughout the 15-minute journey, which ends at the famous Tatev Monastery. Built in 906, the monastery was the spiritual centre of the Syunik region for centuries. In the 14th century, a famous university operated within the monastery complex and, for many centuries, it was the only one in Eastern Armenia. Since 1995, the monastery has been on the list of candidates for the UNESCO World Heritage List, and it is currently the only functioning monastery in Armenia.
