Sevanavank, Hayravank and Noratus Khachkars

  • The excursion starts at 11:00 at the location you specified.

  • The legendary Lake Sevan is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the most visited attractions in Armenia. It is located in the Gegharkunik region at an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level. On the peninsula, on a high hill, stands the famous Sevanavank Monastery, built in 874 by Princess Mariam. Climbing the hill, you will have a great opportunity to explore the ancient monastery complex and take fantastic photos against the background of the magnificent lake. At the top of the hill, there is also a small botanical garden and an observation deck, creating the feeling that you are standing in the center of Sevan.

  • Hayravank Monastery was built in the 9th century and is located on the shore of Sevan, on a hilly slope. Not far from the monastery is the White Fortress, which, according to legend, was connected to Hayravank by a secret tunnel. The monastery complex is a prime example of Armenian cross-domed architecture. From the top of the hills, a fantastic landscape opens onto the lake, where you will have a great opportunity to take fabulous photos as a memory of your visit.

  • The last attraction of this beautiful excursion is Noratus Khachkar's Cemetery, located in the village of the same name. It is the largest cluster of these unique Armenian sculptures in the world, with about 1000 khachkars. The most ancient khachkars, translated as cross-stones, date back to the 10th century AD. One of these oldest sculptures was presented to the British Museum in 1978, and khachkars still attract great interest from all over the world. It is a comfortable place to explore history, architecture, and enjoy outdoor walks.

  • The excursion ends at the location you specified.
