The Monument of the Armenian Alphabet was built in 2005 in honor of the 1600th anniversary of the creation of the national Armenian alphabet by Mesrop Mashtots. It is located in an open area on the road to Mount Aragats, in the Aragatsotn region. Here, you will have a great opportunity to take a walk in the fresh air and take memorable photos near the first letter of your name.
The medieval Lori Fortress is located near the city of Stepanavan, in the Lori region. Since the 10th century, it defended the surrounding villages for many centuries and served as an outpost of the region, before being destroyed in the 13th century during the Mongol-Tatar invasion. After the invasion, people gradually left the fortress, and in the end only the ruins remained. Inside, you will find interesting remains of an ancient defensive structure that you will have the opportunity to explore.
Odzun Monastery is located on a high slope in the village of the same name, near the administrative center of the region, the city of Alaverdi. Built in the 6th century AD, it is one of the most ancient monasteries in Armenia. The temple was restored in 2014, after which the monastery became one of the most visited places by tourists. In Odzun village, which is one of the largest in the Republic, you will also have a great opportunity to observe village life.
