Day 01

Arrival and Transfer to Sigiriya

  • On arrival, meet the representative and transfer from the airport to Sigiriya.

Overnight stay at Sigiriya/Dambulla/Kandalama.

Day 02

Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Frescoes

  • Have a delicious breakfast at the hotel.
  • Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a World Heritage Site constructed by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD) in the 5th century.
  • Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the "Heavenly Maidens" of Sigiriya, located in a protected pocket of the rock and approached by a curved stairway. These frescoes are painted with earth pigments on plaster.

Overnight stay at Dambulla.

Day 03

Dambulla Temple, Matale Spice Garden, and Kandy

  • Eat breakfast at a hotel in Sigiriya.
  • Transfer from Sigiriya to Dambulla.
  • Explore Dambulla Rock Temple, constructed by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC and recognized as a World Heritage Site.
  • Proceed with the transfer from Dambulla to Matale.
  • Visit a spice garden in Matale to see the different spices for which Sri Lanka is well known. Here, clients can see various spices and learn how some of them are grown and processed.
  • Witness a cookery show.
  • Head from Matale to Kandy.

Day 04

Kandy, Peradeniya, Tea Plantation, and Nuwara Eliya

  • Eat breakfast at a hotel in Kandy. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site.
  • Visit Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts center, a gem museum, and a lapidary.
  • Explore the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.
  • Transfer from Kandy to Peradeniya Botanical Garden, which offers a wonderful green diversity of trees, plants, and flowers.
  • Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where some of the best tea in the world is produced. Here, you can observe the tea manufacturing process and see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea at the factory.
  • Visit Nuwara Eliya. Because of its refreshing mountain climate and panorama, Nuwara Eliya is Sri Lanka's best-known hill resort.

Day 05

Kitulgala and Transfer to Colombo

  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
  • Transfer from Nuwara Eliya to Kitulgala.
  • View the Kelani River, the broadest river in Sri Lanka, flowing through Kitulgala. This was the main location where the Oscar-winning movie Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed. On the hill above this town, a primitive cave was recently discovered containing large middens of shells from an unknown heritage civilization.
  • Proceed with the transfer from Kitulgala to Colombo.

Day 06

Colombo City Tour and Final Departure

  • Eat breakfast at the hotel in Colombo.
  • Tour Colombo. Like many capital cities in developing countries, Colombo is rapidly changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise where old buildings once stood.
  • Visit other places of interest such as the Pettah bazaar, where one can shop for a bargain, a Hindu temple, a Buddhist temple, residential areas with the stately homes of the rich, and the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the People's Republic of China.
  • Transfer from Colombo to the airport.
