Itinerary

1. Day 1: Lisbon - Óbidos - Alcobaça - Nazare - Batalha - Fátima

   • Pick up at your hotel and start the tour at 09:00 a.m. With your Portugal tour guide.

   • Travel towards Obidos from Lisbon, one of Portugal's most picturesque and well-preserved villages. Cruise along with this medieval and walled village with whitewashed houses and narrow streets.

   • Proceed to Alcobaça, where you will visit one of the largest gothic churches in Portugal.

   • Visit the gorgeous fishing town of Nazaré. Most genuine Portuguese traditions are still alive here, and world-renowned surfers love the huge waves.

   • Enjoy the view over the Atlantic Ocean, on the top of the cliff.

   • Continue to Batalha, where you will visit the Monastery of Santa Maria de Victoria, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.

   • Afterwards, reach Fátima Sanctuary, known worldwide. It is one of the most popular Catholic pilgrimage sites globally, and you will explore its magic atmosphere.

   Overnight in Fátima.

2. Day 2: Coimbra - Aveiro - Porto

   • Depart from Fátima and travel to Coimbra, a historic city, once the Capital of Portugal, also known for its academic life, and Fado. 

   • Visit the oldest University in Portugal, with its beautiful baroque library and inspiring atmosphere characterized by ancient customs like the black cape of the students and the melancholic “fado” music sung by male students. 

   • Discover the St. Clara Church, where the tomb of Queen St. Isabel – the protagonist of the “miracle of the roses” – lies. Then, you will keep travelling through the center of Portugal. 

   • Proceed to Aveiro, which will be your last visit. It is considered the “Venice of Portugal”. The canals cross this city, and the wooden and colourful “moliceiros” boats are a must-see.  

   • Take time walking through the beautiful streets and taste the delicious typical sweet “ovos moles”.

3. Day 3: Porto - Guimarães - Braga

   • Start with a visit to the great city of Porto and visit the narrow streets and enjoy the picturesque and colourful houses.

   • Continue the trip to the Minho Region, a region distinguished by its natural green sceneries and sparkling green wines.

   • Proceeding, you will discover Guimarães, the birthplace of the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, and the cradle of the Nation. Explore the historic and medieval center, visit the Sacred Hill and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança Dynasty.

   • Reach Braga, known for its heritage richness, combines tradition with innovation. With over 2000 years of very rich history, Braga possesses one of the oldest Sacro-Montes in Europe and is the representative of the Minho region, the Bom Jesus. 

   • Stroll through the historic center and finest streets, explore the oldest cathedral of the country and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, with its famous baroque stairway and gardens.

4. Day 4: Santiago De Compostela - Porto

   • Cross the border of Portugal and visit Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This city is a religious destination for thousands of pilgrims who end the Santiago Way (Camino de Santiago). It is also a fantastic city to explore, strolling through its alleys and streets. It was classified as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1985, and we will get to learn more about its most impressive monuments, and you will try sampling some of the traditional local dishes.

5. Day 5: Amarante - Vila Real - Douro Valley - Lamego - Viseu - Urgeiriça

   • Pick up at the hotel and continue the tour through the countryside of Portugal.

   • Go to the charming riverside town of Amarante, situated on a hill overlooking the bucolic Tamega River.

   • Stroll through the city center and discover the surroundings.

   • Head towards Vila Real and visit the fabulous gardens of the Casa de Mateus.

   • After this beautiful visit, travel through the Douro Region. Along the bucolic roads, admire the vineyards and the breathtaking landscapes of the Douro Region.

   • Stop in Lamego, a “museum” city known for the smoked ham, fruit crops, and its “stairway to heaven” as it seems the impressive and monumental Sanctuary Our Lady of Remédios’ staircase.

   • Explore the Sanctuary flanked by twin bell towers and its baroque staircase.

   • Proceed to Viseu, the center of the Dão Vineyards, a busy provincial city full of artistic treasures, historic churches and a strong local crafts culture.

   • Discover its magnificent Cathedral, narrow streets and doorways with coats of arms carved in granite.

   Overnight stay in Urgeiriça.

6. Day 6: Bussaco - Tomar - Lisbon

   • Travel till the Bussaco region, famous for its luxuriant forest. 

   • Continue the trip to Tomar, located in a beautiful valley with medieval cobbled streets. It was the home of the Order of the Knights Templar, founded in 1119. The greatest masterpiece is the Convent of Christ, UNESCO World Heritage. 

   • End your journey in Lisbon. (around 07h00 pm).
