The itinerary

Day 01

Lisbon to Évora through the Alentejo Region

  • Start the tour at 8:30 am with a pick-up from your hotel by your English-speaking Portugal tour guide and travel through the Alentejo Region.
  • Discover the bucolic landscapes of olive trees, cork oak, and vineyards on your way to Évora. This medieval walled town, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an enchanting place to delve into the past.
  • Visit Évora's narrow, winding lanes leading to striking architectural works.
  • See the cinematic columns of the Templo Romano, the Roman Temple of Évora, and roam around the picturesque town square.
  • Proceed to the market to appreciate local handicrafts made from cork, ceramic, and copper, as well as the richness of the natural products used to prepare one of the most appreciated gastronomies in Portugal.
  • In the afternoon, walk around these medieval streets.

Day 02

Évora to Lagos via Silves and Praia da Rocha

  • Head south towards the Algarve Region, known for its magnificent coastline, fantastic beaches, and delightful weather throughout the year.
  • Stop in Silves, located in the hills of the Northern Algarve. It is a peaceful and traditional town that used to be a major Moorish trading location. This strategic importance was defended by the mighty castle and solid city walls.
  • Visit the stunning Gothic cathedral.
  • Proceed to the golden sands of the Algarve, passing by Praia da Rocha in Portimão on the way to Lagos.

Day 03

Ponta da Piedade, Sagres, and Cape St. Vincent

  • Start with Ponta da Piedade, a wonderful natural monument overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is a maze of unique formations with heavily weathered cliffs carved into rock pillars of misshapen angles, natural tunnels, and hidden grottos.
  • Visit Sagres, a charming fishing port, where you will see the fortress formerly known as the mythical "navigation school".
  • Continue along the cliffs to Cape St. Vincent, the southwesternmost point of mainland Europe, where the hard waves of the Atlantic Ocean strike the massive precipices.
  • Return to Lagos, where you will cruise beside this historic and lively town, surrounded by ancient Moorish walls and overlooking the pretty harbour estuary. Take your time to explore the beaches by yourself.

Day 04

Setúbal and Arrábida Mountain to Lisbon

  • Travel along the Atlantic coast towards Lisbon and visit Setúbal, the city of the Portuguese sardine industry.
  • Take a stroll through the squares in the pedestrian old town of Setúbal.
  • Reach the top of Arrábida Mountain, an important and preserved natural park with breathtaking scenery. Enjoy a stunning view of the Troia Peninsula.
  • Return to Lisbon by 07:00 pm.
