Ahmedabad Heritage and Architectural Tour

  • Meet your tour guide at a pre-decided location and begin your tour.

  • Make your way to Gandhi Ashram, formerly known as Satyagraha Ashram, which served prominently as the nerve center of India's freedom movement. It was from here, in 1930, that Mahatma Gandhi began his famous Dandi March towards the sea to protest against the Salt Tax imposed by the British.

  • Admire the Jama Masjid, built by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1423. Built with yellow sandstone in an architectural style that combines the best of Muslim and Hindu traditions, it stands on 260 pillars that support 15 domes at varying elevations.

  • Marvel at the Teen Darwaja, a triple-arched gateway built by Sultan Ahmed Shah to serve as the royal entrance to the Maidan Shahi, or the Royal Square.

  • Visit the Hutheesing Jain Temple, the best-known Jain temple in Ahmedabad.

  • Explore the Adalaj Stepwell, built in 1498 in memory of Rana Veer Singh by his wife, Queen Rudadevi. Admire the exquisite architecture of the stepwell as you observe how every pillar and wall surface is covered in carvings of leaves, flowers, birds, fishes, and various ornamental friezes.
