Visit Sualkuchi, one of the world's largest weaving villages. Assam produces three unique varieties of silk - the Golden Muga, the White Pat, and the Warm Eri. Silk grown all over the state finds its way to Sualkuchi, where the entire population is engaged in weaving exquisite silk fabrics. As soon as you enter the village, you can distinctly hear the rhythm of the shuttles on the looms. Sualkuchi, the biggest village in Assam, is situated on the north bank of the mighty Brahmaputra, 35 km from Guwahati.
Continue to Hajo, a town sacred to Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists. The town boasts a Hindu temple accessible via a long stairway, and the village is renowned for its brass metalwork.
