The itinerary

Day 01

From Joe's Bridge to Nijmegen via Hell's Highway

  • Meet your tour guide at Eindhoven Airport, the train station, or your hotel.

  • Start the tour at Joe's Bridge at the Belgium border, where the British ground troops began their 'Garden' operation on the way to Arnhem.

  • Go to Son Bridge via Valkenswaard and Eindhoven, where the 101st Airborne troops landed. See the Market Garden Museum next to the drop zones.

  • Continue along Hell's Highway to the other drop zones of the 101st and make your way to Grave Bridge, which was captured by the 82nd Airborne troops.

  • Stop here for the night close to Nijmegen.

Day 02

From Nijmegen's battle sites to Arnhem

  • Visit the landing sites of the 82nd Airborne Division in Nijmegen and Groesbeek, and trace back the difficult battle for the bridge here.

  • Go to Arnhem, where the British 1st Airborne Division was engaged in a fierce and ultimately unsuccessful fight against strong German troops.

  • See the 'Bridge too far', the Airborne HQ, now a museum, as well as the drop zones and war memorials.

  • Explore the site at the Rhine River, where many troops were ultimately able to escape the trap.
