The journey
Sign up for this short 3-day tour to the gorgeous village of Marike in Langkat District and enjoy rafting on the Sei Wampu River. Explore the flora and fauna of Simolap Marike Forest on a jungle walk, then visit the scenic Sei Murak Hot Springs, Sampuran Ganjang Waterfall, and Gelap and Terang Cave.

Day by day
Pick up from the airport or your hotel in Medan.
Stop somewhere for food and to see some nice plantations along the way to Marike, Langkat District, North Sumatra.
Meet my team for rafting and attend a briefing before the activity, including an explanation of the equipment and safety gear for participants.
Start rafting on the Sei Wampu River.
Finish in the afternoon and head back to the hotel for free time.
After breakfast at the homestay, start the jungle trek to Simolap Marike Forest, which is also part of Leuser National Park.
Walk through the forest to see flora and fauna such as hornbills, gibbons, siamangs, and orangutans. Orangutans here are still wild, so there is no guarantee of seeing them. It depends on the fruit season, which is usually from March to July, when there is a better chance of spotting orangutans.
See other primates such as silver leaf monkeys, Thomas leaf monkeys, macaques, as well as deer and songbirds.
Stay overnight in the forest.
Free program at the base camp.
Visit Gelap and Terang Cave, which is about 200 m long. We have to use a headlamp or flashlight to explore the contents of the cave.
Enjoy Sampuran Ganjang Waterfall.
Have fun at Sei Murak Hot Springs.
Head back to Medan for transfer out.

Marike is one of the villages in Langkat District. It can be reached with a 2-2.5 hour drive from Medan city or about 1 hour from the tourist attraction of the Bohorok Orangutan Semi-Wild Center.
Sei Wampu River flows across two districts in North Sumatra, namely Karo Regency in the upstream area and Langkat District in the lower reaches. For the Amazing Wampu Experience package, the starting point of rafting on the Wampu River is in Marike.
