Shanghai Highlights from People's Square to the Bund
- Meet your tour guide at Hongqiao Railway Station and begin your journey.
- Make your way to People's Square. Once a racecourse, the square is now the center of the city, with the Town Hall, the Grand Theater, and the Shanghai Museum. Visit the nearby Urban Planning Exhibition (20 yuan per person) for a nice overview of modern Shanghai.
- Stop in the surrounding Old Town to taste Shanghai dumplings, considered among the best dumplings in the world.
Reach Yu Yuan Garden and go for a leisurely stroll.
- Take the metro to Tian Zi Fang. It has many art shops, small restaurants, and terraces, and is famous for its ambiance.
- Make your way to the Bund, a historical site where old ships used to land and load their cargo. In nearby Puxi, you will find many old art deco-style buildings that once made up the old skyline of Shanghai. Look across the Huangpu River to see the modern cityscape of the old city.
- Walk through Nanjing Pedestrian Street, one of the busiest shopping streets in the world.
- Head back to the railway station at 5:30 PM.
