Day 01

Arrival in South Luangwa and First Night Drive

  • Arrive at Mfuwe Airport, where you will personally meet your English-speaking Zambian guide, who will take you to your lodge or camp to relax and unpack. If you arrive in the morning, you will head out together on an afternoon/night drive, and the guide will meet you at tea time.
  • Meet the children who will be accompanying you, learn more about them and their life stories, and tell them about yours.
  • After a short briefing, you will be on your way. Stop at a scenic spot for sundowners, where you can enjoy snacks and refreshments while watching the gorgeous African sunset before continuing your night drive.
  • Return to your lodge or camp by 8:00 p.m., just in time for dinner.

Day 02

Wildlife Encounters in South Luangwa National Park

  • Interact and get to know each other better, and let the guide know what type of animals interest you and the children the most.
  • Use checklists and go over the animals you want to see. The guide will act as the interpreter between you and the children if they are not fluent in English and will share as many facts about the park and its wildlife as possible with all of you.
  • Stop at around 9:30 a.m. for a tea, coffee, and cookies break by the river or in the bush.
  • Head back to your lodge or camp by 11:00 a.m. to enjoy lunch and relax.
  • The afternoon/evening drive will start after tea time, around 3:00 p.m. The guide will meet you at your lodge or camp.
  • Discover tons of animals, such as elephants, lions, leopards, antelopes, buffaloes, and more on your afternoon/night drive. Stop again for refreshments at sundown.
  • Drive back to the lodge or camp by 8:00 p.m. and have dinner.

Day 03

Village Visit and Cultural Immersion

  • Have your usual tea, coffee, and cookies by 9:30 a.m., then drive to Drophill, a lovely Zambian restaurant in the village, for lunch.
  • Introduce yourself to the families of the children with the help of the guide. Then, visit the local market, craft shops, and the children's schools.
  • Begin the afternoon/night drive at 3:00 p.m.
  • Have another relaxing sundowner at a different location at 5:30 p.m.
  • Return to your campsite by 8:00 p.m. for dinner.

Day 04

Final Safari Moments and Farewell

This is your last full day with the guide and the children. By then, you will have shared plenty of stories, so you are encouraged to ask as many remaining questions as you may have. It will be a very emotional day, but know that you will have made a massive impact and tangible difference in the lives of those children.

  • Have the usual tea, coffee, and cookies by 9:30 a.m.
  • Be back at your lodge or camp for lunch and a siesta by 11:00 a.m.
  • Enjoy the afternoon/night drive and a relaxing sundowner at 5:30 p.m.
  • Drive back to the campsite for dinner.
  • Depending on what time of day you are leaving, you may enjoy one last game drive together in the morning. The guide will personally take you to the airport.

Know before you go

  • Are you thinking of enjoying an exclusive private safari experience while making a significant impact on someone else's life? Then this IMPACT SAFARI is for you! This special package is unique and is the first of its type in Zambia. It has been tailored in a unique way to enable you to enjoy the full benefits of a private guide and safari in the gorgeous South Luangwa National Park, as well as to get to know local children and provide them with an experience of a lifetime in your company.
  • During your stay, you will get the chance to discover the African wilderness of the Luangwa Valley, and you will also get to know local kids.
  • One or two children will join you on game drives, enjoy exciting lunches and sundowners by the river in the bush with you, and you will also be able to visit their homes, meet their families, and see their ways of life.
  • Most of the children living in Mfuwe village have never been inside South Luangwa National Park, even though they live right on its doorstep. What better way to inspire them to care about the animals that roam the African wilderness than to take them with you on this trip?
  • In this Impact Safari, the guide targets children whose parents have passed away or who are unable to pay their school fees, so that 40% of this safari goes straight towards helping to pay for the kids' school fees and school supplies. It is a one-of-a-kind safari that has already proved successful and well known, and has helped several children go back to school.
  • All safaris are limited to a maximum of 6 people to ensure an authentic, exclusive experience. That includes the 1 or 2 children who will join you on this trip. For example, you can choose one child, or a brother and a sister, and take them out together. This is an incredibly enriching cultural exchange that you and your family will remember forever.
  • One walking safari is included only when accompanied by children over 12 years old.
