The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Mfuwe and First Sundowner Drive

  • Arrival at Mfuwe Airport. You will be met personally by your Zambian guide and taken to your lodge or camp to relax and unpack.

  • If you arrive in the morning, you will head out together on an afternoon and night drive, and your guide will meet you at tea time.

  • After a short briefing, you will be on your way.

  • Stop at a scenic spot for sundowners, where you can enjoy gin and tonic with snacks while watching the gorgeous African sun go down before continuing on a night drive.

  • You will be back at your lodge or camp at around 19:30-20:00 at the latest, right in time for dinner.

Day 02

Full-Day Game Drives and Photographic Priorities

  • On this full day out together, you will get to know each other better, and your guide will gain a good idea of which animals you would particularly like to photograph as your photographic

Day 03

Wildlife Insights and Transfer Across Luangwa Valley

  • Your third full day together will be fun and educational. Your guide will share as many facts about the animals as possible, and some of them are certain to surprise you.

  • At 09:00, there will be the now usual tea, coffee, and cookies break.

  • At 10:30, you will return to your lodge or camp to pack and get ready to move to the next lodge after lunch.

  • As soon as you have finished your meal, you will be on your way to a different lodge so you can enjoy another side of the Luangwa Valley. You will have time to relax for a while before heading out again.

  • At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place at a different location.

  • By 20:00 at the latest, you will be back

Day 04

Walking Safari and Bush Stories

  • This day will be all about what you want to see and what questions you have. Your guide will try to answer all of them and will delight you with stories of the bush.

  • You will also have the chance to go on a walking safari. It begins with a short drive, after which you leave the vehicle and continue on foot, accompanied by a scout from the Zambian Wildlife Authority.

  • At 09:30, there will be the now usual tea, coffee, and cookies break. The coffee and tea porter will carry all the water and snacks you may need. All you need to bring is a hat, sunscreen, and binoculars or a camera.

  • At 15:00, the usual afternoon and night drive begins.

  • At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place - perhaps by the river watching elephants cross, or while spotting a leopard in a nearby tree.

  • By 20:00 at the latest, you will be back at your lodge for dinner.

Day 05

Mfuwe Community Encounters and Final Safari Day

  • This day can either be a regular day in the bush or offer you the chance to make it a little different. It is also your last full day together. By then, you will have shared plenty of stories, so you are encouraged to ask as many remaining questions as you may have.

  • You may see many children in the Mfuwe area who have never been inside the park, even though it is right on their doorstep. You are offered Impact Safaris, during which guests can choose to take 2 to 4 of these children out on drives with them. They may join you in the morning, in the afternoon, or both, giving them the extraordinary opportunity to take part in an activity usually reserved for tourists.

  • At 09:30, there will be the now usual tea, coffee, and cookies break.

  • By 10:30-11:00, you will be back at your lodge or camp for lunch and a siesta.

  • If you wish, your guide can pick you up at 12:30 for a 1 hour 30 minute village visit around Mfuwe, including local craft shops as well as the local schools.

  • At 15:00, your afternoon and night drive begins.

  • At 17:30, another relaxing sundowner will take place at a different location.

  • By 20:00 at the latest, you will be back

Day 06

Departure from Mfuwe

  • Depending on what time of day you are leaving, you may be able to enjoy one last game drive together in the morning.

  • In all cases, it will have been a pleasure to meet you, and your guide hopes you will have had a fantastic time on this tour.

  • Your guide will personally take you to the airport.
