Close to the mosque, you will visit the Gayer-Anderson Museum, named after John Gayer-Anderson, a British major and army doctor who received special permission from the Egyptian authorities to reside in one of the unique sixteenth-century houses. This house is a beautiful example of traditional old houses in Egypt and is known as the House of Kretlia. It contains the original furniture of the house, in addition to the unique pieces and collection of Gayer-Anderson.
