Day 01

Coptic and Islamic Cairo Discovery

  • In the morning, your private tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo in a deluxe air-conditioned car or van.

  • Visit the Old Cairo area and Coptic Street to see the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, Church of St. Barbara, and Church of Abu Serga. This area is considered a small sample of Jerusalem and the land of religions.

  • Explore Amr's Mosque, the first mosque in Egypt.

  • Transfer to visit the Sultan Hassan Mosque, a huge and famous mosque and ancient college known for its wonderful design and history.

  • Continue to the Ibn Tulun Mosque, which can be easily identified by its high walls topped with neat crenulations that resemble a string of paper dolls.

  • Close to the mosque, you will visit the Gayer-Anderson Museum, named after John Gayer-Anderson, a British major and army doctor who received special permission from the Egyptian authorities to reside in one of the unique sixteenth-century houses. This house is a beautiful example of traditional old houses in Egypt and is known as the House of Kretlia. It contains the original furniture of the house, in addition to the unique pieces and collection of Gayer-Anderson.
