Description

Go on exciting morning and evening game drives at Tanzania’s most extensive protected area, Selous Game Reserve and see large numbers of elephants, buffaloes, wild dogs and lions. Also, look out for crocodiles and hippos and some of Tanzania’s last remaining black Rhinos as you do a boat safari in the mighty Rufiji River in this 3-day safari.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve
- Pick by a guide from Selous explorer at your Hotel for safari briefing and then drive south to Selous Game Reserve which is approximately six hours drive from Dar es Salaam.
- On arrival, you start with an afternoon boat safari in the mighty Rufiji River. Overnight at Seloushippo tented camp on full board.

Day 2: Selous Game Reserve
- After breakfast, you go for full day game drives with packed lunch boxes in Selous Game Reserve. During lunch time you enjoy your picnic lunch in the picnic site the guide will select for you.
- After your picnic lunch and some relaxation, you continue with your afternoon game drives.
- After game drives, you return back to Hippo Camp Selous for overnight Full Board.

Day 3: Selous Game Reserve to Dar es Salaam
- Start the day with a morning walking safari.
- After the walking safari that takes around three hours, you return back to your camp shower and have your breakfast.
- After breakfast, drive back to Dar es Salaam with packed lunch boxes.
- On arrival in Dar es Salaam, you are dropped at Hotel/Ferry to Zanzibar or Airport for your flight back home.

Fly to/from Julius Nyerere Airport (DAR - Check price) in Dar es Salaam.

Selous Game Reserve covers 5% of Tanzania’s total land area and is approximately 55,000 sq km. Selous is Africa’s largest wildlife reserve and Tanzania’s most extensive protected area. Selous provides shelter for large numbers of elephants, big populations of buffaloes, wild dogs, lions, crocodiles and hippos in the mighty Rufiji River, also has a rich variety of birdlife and some of Tanzania’s last remaining black Rhinos. The reserve is named after one of the famous British explorers, Frederick Courteney Selous, who was killed in the reserve during WWI.
