The itinerary

1
Day 01

Cultural Interaction in the Jungle

  • Walk and do other activities in the secondary jungle, with the option of visiting Malokas (common houses for meetings, rituals, etc.). Tourists who arrive in Leticia earlier can start this trip at 9:00 am from Selvaventura.

  • For tourists who arrive in Leticia the same day, meet at the airport and transfer to Selvaventura in the center of Leticia. Then review the trip plan and conditions, make payments for the trip, check in the luggage, and have a quick lunch.

  • Transfer out of Leticia through the Tarapacá Highway with a Colombian tour guide.

  • Pay a casual visit to a local house for an introduction to the indigenous cultures here.

  • Observe coca chewing rituals, tobacco smoking, and yagé drinking, try traditional food, and get acquainted with native agriculture and customs while listening to myths and legends.

  • Have hammocks and mosquito nets arranged, followed by traditional baths, cooking on an open fire, dinner, and bedtime.

Day 02

Jungle Camping Experience

  • After breakfast in the Maloca, go for a walk through a sparsely populated area of the jungle for about 4 hours. Camping arrangements will be made, including a fire and hammocks with mosquito nets.

  • After lunch, explore the surrounding areas while observing fauna and flora.

  • Dinner will be followed by night activities, including observing fauna and flora and fishing, depending on the season or water level.

Overnight rest in hammocks.

Day 03

Canopy Adventure at Agape Natural Reserve

  • After an early breakfast, take a walk to the highway, followed by lunch.

  • Transfer to Agape Natural Reserve and bathe in the creek there.

  • Walk to a tree for about 15 minutes, then climb up to the platform with the help of a rope and special safety equipment to a height of 35 m. Enjoy watching the sunset, birds, and epiphytic flora.

  • After dinner, proceed with any activity of your choice, including camping on the treetop platform with mats, blankets, and mosquito nets. Alternatively, you can climb down by rope, return to Agape Natural Reserve, and settle there in shared rooms with beds, mosquito nets, and outside shared bathrooms.

Day 04

Three Borders Tour Across Colombia, Perú, and Brasil

  • After breakfast at Agape Natural Reserve, walk through the jungle to the Tikuna de San Pedro community for approximately 1 hour, and then navigate by kayak along the Yahaurcaca Creek/Lake for about 4 hours during the high-water season.

  • Walk to the highway and transfer to Puerto de la Cholita. Except during very low water in September and October, navigate along the Yahaurcaca Creek/Lake for bird watching.

  • Arrive at the Flor de Loto tourist place on the Amazon riverbank and observe the Victoria Regia with a Colombian tour guide.

  • Embark on a private boat and navigate the great Amazon River towards Peru. Cross the flooded zone of the Peruvian jungle during the high-water season from November until July, and watch birds and other fauna of this zone, including monkeys, lizards, and sloths. Lunch will be served on board. Then navigate to the Zacambu Lakes and the Javari River, the border between Peru and Brazil.

  • Visit Don Jorge's house, home to a Brazilian-Peruvian family, a basic hostel in the native architecture style. Accommodation will be in rooms with outside shared bathrooms or on the terrace in hammocks with gorgeous views of the lake.

  • Navigate across lakes and rivers, go fishing, observe dolphins, try canoeing, and visit the beaches here during the low-water season.

  • Dinner with traditional domestic food will be followed by night navigation and caiman watching.

Overnight rest.

Day 05

Return to Leticia and Tabatinga

  • Return to Leticia/Tabatinga with an opportunity to visit some riverside villages, such as Islandia, Benjamín Constant, and Santa Rosa, depending on the departure time of those who need to fly from Leticia the same day.

  • Have breakfast and return to Leticia/Tabatinga by navigating the Javari River during low water between Peru and Brazil, continuing upstream along the Amazon River.

If the tourists do not have to fly from Leticia the same day, the navigating part of the trip could be extended until 5 pm, including lunch.
